Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all components. Ensure all parts are present before assembly.

  1. Attach guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, position bar on studs, align chain groove.
  2. Install cutting chain: Place chain over bar sprocket, ensure cutting teeth face forward.
  3. Adjust chain tension: Tighten bar nuts slightly, adjust tension knob until chain snaps back when pulled.
  4. Final tightening: Secure bar nuts firmly after proper tension is set.
  5. Fill tanks: Add fuel mix to fuel tank, bar and chain oil to oil tank.

WARNING! Always wear protective gloves when handling chain. Ensure chain is properly tensioned before use.

First-Time Setup

Prepare chainsaw for initial use following these steps.

  1. Fuel preparation: Mix fresh gasoline with 2-cycle oil at 40:1 ratio.
  2. Chain lubrication: Fill oil reservoir with bar and chain oil.
  3. Starting procedure: Place on flat surface, set choke, pull starter cord until engine fires.
  4. Warm-up: Allow engine to run at idle for 2-3 minutes before cutting.
  5. Test safety features: Verify chain brake engages properly.

CAUTION! Never start chainsaw without proper chain lubrication. Always check chain tension before each use.

Specifications

Controls and Operation

Main controls: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke control, primer bulb, stop switch, chain brake lever.

Starting Procedure: 1. Engage chain brake. 2. Set choke to full position. 3. Press primer bulb 5-6 times. 4. Pull starter cord until engine fires. 5. Move choke to half position. 6. Pull starter cord until engine starts. 7. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Cutting Techniques: Use lower part of bar for cutting. Let chain do the work - don't force. Maintain secure footing. Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).

Safety Features

Chain Brake: Stops chain within milliseconds if kickback occurs. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle can be engaged. Right Hand Guard: Protects hand from broken chain. Anti-Vibration: Reduces fatigue and improves control. Chain Catcher: Prevents broken chain from striking operator.

  1. Always wear PPE: Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, steel-toe boots.
  2. Maintain secure grip: Keep both hands on handles during operation.
  3. Be aware of kickback: Never cut with bar tip. Keep chain sharp.
  4. Clear work area: Remove tripping hazards before starting.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height. Always plan escape path from falling tree.

Maintenance Procedures

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Daily: Check chain tension, sharpen chain, clean air filter, check bar oil level.
  2. Weekly: Clean spark arrestor screen, check spark plug, clean cooling fins.
  3. Monthly: Clean fuel filter, check fuel lines, inspect anti-vibration mounts.
  4. Seasonal: Replace spark plug, clean carburetor, inspect clutch and sprocket.

Tip: Always perform maintenance with engine off and cool. Use only genuine Wen replacement parts.

Chain Sharpening

Proper chain sharpening is essential for safe and efficient cutting.

  1. Secure bar: Clamp bar in vise or use chain sharpening jig.
  2. File size: Use correct round file diameter for your chain (typically 5/32" or 3/16").
  3. Filing angle: Maintain 30° cutting angle. Follow existing angle on cutter.
  4. File depth: Each cutter should be filed equally to maintain balance.
  5. Depth gauges: File rakers to proper height (0.025" below cutter edge).
  6. Check tension: Re-tension chain after sharpening as chain may stretch.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure chain is properly tensioned before testing.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and extends chainsaw life.

  1. Fuel system: Run engine until fuel tank is empty or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Chain: Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil, store separately.
  3. Bar: Clean bar groove, file burrs, coat with oil.
  4. Engine: Remove spark plug, add teaspoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly.
  5. Storage location: Store in dry place, away from heat sources and children.

WARNING! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
