Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, pets, and obstacles. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Chain Brake Test: Verify brake function before each use by engaging lever.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources. Use proper fuel/oil mix.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw with one hand. Keep both hands on handles during operation. Watch for kickback.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble on clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar: Place bar onto mounting studs, align chain groove with drive sprocket.
  2. Install Chain: Fit chain over bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top.
  3. Tension Chain: Adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Fill Fluids: Add fuel mix (50:1 gasoline to 2-cycle oil) to fuel tank. Fill bar/chain oil tank.
  5. Priming: Press primer bulb 5-7 times until fuel is visible in bulb.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned - too loose may derail; too tight may damage bar.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front handle with chain brake, Rear handle with throttle trigger, Throttle lockout, Choke lever, Stop switch, Decompression valve (if equipped).

Safety Features: Chain brake (manual/inertia), Right-hand guard, Chain catcher, Spark arrestor muffler, Throttle lockout prevents accidental acceleration.

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, Spark plug, Chain tensioning screw, Oil pump adjustment, Fuel filter, Bar mounting nuts.

Starting & Operation

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place chainsaw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pulling lever forward.
  3. Set choke to full position (lever up).
  4. Press primer bulb 5-7 times.
  5. Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine "pops".
  6. Move choke to half position.
  7. Pull starter rope until engine starts.
  8. Allow to warm up 30 seconds before disengaging chain brake.

Tip: For warm starts, use half-choke or no choke position.

Cutting Techniques

Basic Cutting Positions:

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut (1/3 tree diameter), then back cut leaving hinge wood.
  2. Limbing: Work from trunk outward. Cut downward on top side of branch.
  3. Bucking: Support log properly. Use undercut first, then top cut to avoid pinching.
  4. Pruning: Cut small branches with one cut. For larger branches, use three-cut method to prevent bark tearing.

WARNING! Beware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip). Never cut with tip. Maintain firm grip.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily (Before Each Use): Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Inspect for loose fasteners. Clean air filter. Verify chain brake function.

Weekly: Clean cooling fins. Check spark plug condition. Clean fuel filter. Inspect bar for wear and groove damage.

Monthly: Replace air filter. Clean carburetor air passage. Check anti-vibration elements. Lubricate clutch bearing.

Seasonally: Replace fuel filter. Clean exhaust screen. Check clutch drum and sprocket wear.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharpening Procedure:

  1. Secure bar in vise. Identify shortest cutter as reference.
  2. Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 3/8" or .325").
  3. File at 30° angle, maintaining original angle. File from inside out.
  4. File all cutters to same length. File depth gauges with flat file.
  5. Check depth gauge clearance (0.025" for standard chain).

Tensioning: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar. Adjust when chain is warm. Re-check after first few cuts.

Storage Guidelines

Long-term Storage (30+ days):

  1. Drain fuel tank completely or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  5. Store in dry place, covered, with bar and chain separately.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods - fuel deteriorates and damages carburetor.
