Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Loop chain around sprocket and bar with cutting teeth facing forward. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel: Mix high-quality 2-stroke oil with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio). Fill fuel tank.
  3. Fill Chain Oil: Use bar and chain oil. Fill oil tank.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function properly.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned—snug against bar but able to be pulled by hand.

Starting & Operating

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place saw on flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Set Master Control to Cold Start (choke) position.
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Pull starter rope sharply until engine 'pops'.
  5. Set Master Control to Run position.
  6. Pull starter rope again until engine starts.
  7. Disengage chain brake. Allow 30-second warm-up.

Cutting Techniques: Use full throttle when cutting. Let chain do the work. Plan escape path. Beware of pinch, kickback, and pull-in.

Tip: Always shut off engine before setting saw down or adjusting.

Chain Maintenance

Proper chain care ensures performance and safety.

  1. Chain Tension: Check frequently. Adjust when chain sags from bar. Loosen side cover nuts, turn tensioning screw, tighten nuts.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file and guide. Maintain 30° cutting angle. File all cutters evenly.
  3. Depth Gauges: File down to maintain proper height (0.025 in / 0.65 mm below cutter).
  4. Lubrication: Ensure oiler works. Chain should throw oil during operation.
