Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, non-slip footwear, and close-fitting clothing.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at a safe distance. Ensure stable footing.
  3. Electrical Safety: Use a grounded outlet. Keep cord away from cutting area and sharp objects.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip of bar.
  5. Chain Brake: Test brake before each use by pushing hand guard forward.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Keep hands away from moving chain.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble as follows.

  1. Attach Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Loop chain over bar sprocket and onto drive sprocket, ensuring cutting edges face forward on top of bar. Tighten bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Lift tip of bar, then use tensioning wheel to adjust until chain fits snug against bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts securely.
  3. Fill Chain Oil: Use Stihl chain oil or equivalent. Fill reservoir via oil filler cap until visible in window.
  4. Power Cord: Ensure saw is switched off. Plug cord into grounded outlet.

CAUTION! Always disconnect power before performing any assembly or maintenance.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on body. Front Handle: Contains lock-off button and trigger switch. Rear Handle: For gripping. Side Panel: Chain tensioning wheel, oil filler cap.

Operation: Press lock-off button, then squeeze trigger to start chain. Release trigger to stop chain. Push front hand guard forward to activate chain brake.

Maintenance: Chain tension adjustment, oil reservoir filling, bar reversal for even wear, chain sharpening.

Operation Guide

Starting and using the chainsaw safely.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Verify chain tension, oil level, and that bar and chain are properly assembled. Clear work area.
  2. Starting: Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pulled back). Press lock-off button, then squeeze trigger. Chain will begin moving.
  3. Cutting: Apply light pressure; let chain do the work. Hold saw firmly with both hands. For pruning, cut from top down where possible.
  4. Stopping: Release trigger. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward when not cutting.
  5. Kickback Reaction: If kickback occurs, chain brake should activate. Grip handles firmly, regain control.

Tip: Periodically check chain tension during extended use as new chains may stretch.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures performance and longevity.

  1. Chain Sharpening: Use round file and guide. File each cutter at specified angle (typically 30°). Maintain equal length on all cutters.
  2. Chain Tension: Check frequently. Adjust when chain sags from bottom of bar. Chain should snap back when pulled from bar.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar periodically to ensure even wear. Replace if worn or damaged.
  4. Oiling System: Check oil flow by running saw briefly over cardboard; fine oil line should appear. Clean oil ports if clogged.
  5. Drive Sprocket: Inspect for wear; replace if teeth are hooked.

WARNING! Always disconnect power before sharpening or adjusting chain. Wear gloves.

Cleaning & Storage

Unplug before cleaning. Remove sawdust and debris from bar, chain, cooling fins, and handles. Wipe with dry cloth.

Storage: Empty oil reservoir or use biodegradable oil to prevent gumming. Store in dry place, out of reach of children. Cover bar and chain to prevent rust.

CAUTION! Do not use water or solvents for cleaning. Store away from heat sources.
