Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and sturdy boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of obstacles, ensure secure footing, keep bystanders away.
  3. Fuel Safety: Mix fuel outdoors, use correct oil/gas ratio (50:1 typical), store fuel in approved container.
  4. Operation: Keep both hands on saw, do not operate above shoulder height, be aware of kickback zone.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.

Assembly & First Use

Assemble the chainsaw from the box and prepare for first start.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on mounting studs, fit chain around sprocket and bar, adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fluids: Add mixed fuel to fuel tank. Fill bar and chain oil tank with recommended oil.
  3. Starting Procedure: Set master control lever to cold start position, pull starter rope until engine fires, then move lever to run position.
  4. Initial Run: Allow saw to warm up at idle for a few minutes before cutting.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is engaged when starting. Keep saw on ground, foot in rear handle.

Controls and Components

Master Control Lever: Combines stop switch, choke, and run positions. Throttle Trigger: Controls engine speed. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed to allow throttle operation. Chain Brake Lever: Manual engagement; also inertia-activated. Front Hand Guard: Activates chain brake if pushed forward. Decompression Valve (if equipped): Eases starting.

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, spark plug, fuel cap, oil cap, chain tensioning screw, bar mounting nuts.

Operation Guide

Starting, cutting techniques, and stopping procedure.

  1. Starting (Cold): Engage chain brake. Set master control to choke. Pull starter rope until engine 'pops'. Move control to run position. Pull again to start.
  2. Starting (Warm): Set control to run position (no choke). Pull starter rope.
  3. Cutting: Use full throttle in the cut. Let chain do the work; do not force. Be aware of pinch points and kickback.
  4. Stopping: Release throttle, allow to idle briefly, press stop switch to '0'.

Tip: Maintain sharp chain for efficient cutting and reduced operator strain.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Inspect for loose parts.
Every 5 hoursClean air filter. Check spark plug condition.
Every 20 hoursClean spark arrestor screen (if equipped). Clean cooling fins.
Every 50 hoursReplace fuel filter. Clean carburetor air intake.
AnnuallyCheck all nuts/bolts for tightness. Have professional check ignition and carburetor settings.

WARNING! Perform maintenance only when saw is cool and spark plug wire is disconnected.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper care of cutting attachments is critical.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size. Maintain correct filing angle (typically 30°). File all cutters evenly.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Re-tension when chain is warm after initial use.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar periodically for even wear. Dress bar rails if burred.
  4. Lubrication: Always use recommended bar and chain oil. Check oil flow before cutting.

Storage Guidelines

Prepare saw for short or long-term storage.

For storage over 30 days: 1. Empty fuel tank and run carburetor dry. 2. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil. 3. Clean entire saw. 4. Store in a dry, dust-free place.

CAUTION! Never store saw with fuel in the tank for long periods. Old fuel can damage carburetor components.
