Technical Specifications

Assembly & Initial Setup

Unpack and assemble your chainsaw for first use.

  1. Inspect Contents: Ensure all parts are present and undamaged.
  2. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on studs, loop chain over sprocket and bar (cutting edges facing forward on top). Adjust tensioning screw until chain fits snugly against bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts securely.
  3. Fill Tanks: Add correct 50:1 fuel/oil mix to fuel tank. Fill oil tank with approved bar and chain oil.
  4. Check Chain Brake: Pull front hand guard (chain brake lever) towards handle to engage. Push forward to disengage. Ensure it moves freely.
  5. Check Throttle Lockout: Press throttle lockout; throttle trigger should not move. Release lockout; throttle should move freely.

WARNING! Never start the saw without the bar and chain properly installed and tensioned. Always perform assembly on a clean, stable surface.

Operation Instructions

Steps for safe starting, running, and stopping.

  1. Starting (Cold Engine):
    • Place saw on firm ground. Engage chain brake.
    • Press decompression valve (if equipped).
    • Set choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
    • Press purge bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
    • Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine 'pops'.
    • Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE.
    • Pull starter rope again until engine starts. Let run for a few seconds.
    • Move choke to RUN. Squeeze throttle trigger to disengage fast idle.
  2. Starting (Warm Engine): Use HALF CHOKE or RUN position only.
  3. Running & Cutting:
    • Disengage chain brake before cutting.
    • Use full throttle when cutting. Do not 'lug' the engine.
    • Let the saw do the work; avoid forcing the bar.
    • Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).
  4. Stopping: Release throttle, allow engine to idle for a few seconds, then press and hold the STOP switch.

CAUTION! Always plan your cut and escape path. Never cut above shoulder height.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Inspect for loose fasteners. Check throttle and chain brake operation.
Daily (or every 5 hrs)Clean air filter. Check fuel filter in tank. Clean exterior of saw, especially cooling fins.
Weekly (or every 25 hrs)Clean spark arrestor screen (if equipped). Inspect spark plug. Check anti-vibration elements.
Monthly (or every 100 hrs)Replace fuel filter. Clean carburetor air passage. Check clutch and sprocket for wear.
Annually (or every 500 hrs)Replace spark plug. Clean combustion chamber and exhaust port (professional service recommended). Check all fuel lines.

Chain & Bar Care

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 4.0mm or 5/32"). Maintain original filing angles (usually 30°). File all cutters to equal length. File depth gauges (rakers) with a flat file and gauge.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Re-tension when chain feels loose (check frequently when new). Always tension on a cold chain.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Regularly clean bar groove and oil holes. Flip bar weekly to ensure even wear. Dress bar rails with a flat file if burred.
  4. Lubrication: Always use high-quality bar and chain oil. Adjust oil flow rate via screw (if equipped) for conditions (more for hardwoods/dust). Check oil output by running saw at high speed near a light surface; a fine line of oil should be visible.

WARNING! A dull or poorly maintained chain increases kickback risk and operator fatigue.

Carburetor Adjustment

Factory settings are optimal for most conditions. Adjust only if necessary (high altitude, extreme temps).

Procedure: Start with factory settings. Warm up engine fully. Adjust idle speed (T). For fine-tuning L and H, consult a qualified technician or specific service manual. Engine should accelerate smoothly and run steadily at full throttle without "four-stroking" excessively.

Storage Guidelines

  1. Long-term Storage (>30 days):
    • Drain all fuel from tank and carburetor. Run engine until it stops to clear fuel lines.
    • Remove spark plug, add 1 teaspoon of 2-stroke oil into cylinder. Pull starter rope slowly 2-3 times to coat interior. Reinstall plug.
    • Remove chain, clean and soak in oil. Clean bar thoroughly and coat with oil.
    • Store in a dry, cool, and locked place, out of reach of children.
  2. Short-term Storage: Store with full fuel tank treated with fuel stabilizer if recommended.

Troubleshooting Guide

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Engine will not startNo spark, flooded, stale fuel, clogged filter, improper starting procedure.Check spark plug. Use fresh 50:1 mix. Check fuel filter. Follow cold start procedure exactly. Avoid over-choking.
Engine starts then diesClogged fuel filter/line, dirty air filter, faulty carburetor diaphragm, improper L adjustment.Replace fuel filter. Clean air filter. Check fuel line. Adjust L screw slightly richer.
Lacks power at high speedClogged spark arrestor, dirty air filter, worn piston/cylinder, improper H adjustment.Clean spark arrestor screen. Clean air filter. Check compression. Adjust H screw.
Chain does not oilEmpty oil tank, clogged oil passage/port, faulty oil pump, wrong oil (too thick in cold).Fill tank. Clean bar oil holes and saw outlet. Check pump drive mechanism. Use appropriate oil.
Chain turns at idleIdle speed set too high.Adjust T (idle) screw counter-clockwise until chain stops, then slightly more.
Excessive vibrationLoose components, unbalanced/damaged chain, worn anti-vibration mounts.Tighten all fasteners. Sharpen chain evenly. Replace anti-vibration elements.
