Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy footwear, and close-fitting clothing.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure stable footing.
  3. Electrical Safety: Use a grounded outlet. Keep cord away from cutting area and sharp objects.
  4. Before Starting: Check chain tension and sharpness. Ensure bar and chain are properly assembled and oiled.
  5. During Use: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not overreach. Do not cut above shoulder height.

WARNING! Risk of serious injury or death from kickback, electric shock, or contact with moving chain. Never operate a chainsaw while tired, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place chain over guide bar, aligning drive links with bar groove. Fit bar onto saw's mounting studs, ensuring chain fits onto drive sprocket. Secure bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Use the tool-free tensioning knob. Lift tip of bar up, then tighten knob until chain is snug against bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts fully.
  3. Fill Oil Reservoir: Use only recommended bar and chain oil. Fill through oil filler cap until visible in window.
  4. Power Cord: Ensure power switch is OFF. Plug cord into a grounded 120V outlet.

CAUTION! Always disconnect power before performing any assembly, adjustment, or maintenance.

Controls and Parts

Familiarize yourself with all controls before operation.

Main Controls:
Front Handle/Hand Guard: Place left hand here.
Rear Handle: Place right hand here; houses trigger.
Trigger Switch: Activates motor when depressed.
Trigger Lockout: Must be pressed before trigger can be engaged.
Chain Brake Lever: Located forward of front handle; stops chain instantly if activated manually or by inertia.
Chain Tension Knob: Tool-free adjustment.
Oil Filler Cap: For adding bar and chain oil.

Safety Symbols: Understand all warning labels on the saw.

Operation Guide

Follow these steps for safe and effective cutting.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Verify chain tension, oil level, and that bar nuts are tight. Clear work area.
  2. Starting: Place saw on ground, ensure chain is clear. Press trigger lockout with right thumb, then squeeze trigger. Allow chain to reach full speed before cutting.
  3. Basic Cutting: Use the "bucking" technique for logs on the ground. Support log with limbs. Let the saw do the work; do not force it.
  4. Limbing: Remove branches from a felled tree. Cut from bottom of tree towards top, standing on opposite side of tree from branches being cut.
  5. Stopping: Release trigger. The chain will stop. Wait for all movement to cease before setting saw down.
  6. Kickback Awareness: Kickback can occur if the upper tip of the bar contacts an object. Always be aware of bar tip location.

Tip: Periodically check oil flow by pointing bar tip at a light-colored surface and running at full speed; a fine line of oil should appear.

Chain Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use a round file and file guide matching chain pitch. File each cutter at the recommended angle (usually 30°). File all cutters to the same length.
  2. Tensioning: Chain stretches when new and during use. Check tension frequently. A properly tensioned chain should snap back against the bar when pulled away and released, but not bind.
  3. Replacing Chain/Bar: When cutters are worn down to the gauge line, replace chain. Inspect guide bar for wear, grooves, and straightness. Replace if damaged.
  4. Oiling: Always use before and during operation. Use only bar and chain oil for proper adhesion. Do not use waste oil.

WARNING! Disconnect power before any maintenance. Wear heavy gloves when handling chain.

Cleaning & Storage

Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning.

Clean saw body with a dry cloth. Remove sawdust from air vents, oil ports, and guide bar groove. Wipe down guide bar and apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust. Store in a dry, locked location out of reach of children. Hang by rear handle or place in protective case.

CAUTION! Do not use water, solvents, or pressurized air to clean. Store with chain brake disengaged.
