Assembly & Installation

Unpack and inspect all contents. Ensure you have the correct Ryobi 18V ONE+ battery and charger.

  1. Attach the Guide Bar and Chain: Place the chain over the bar, align with sprocket, and secure the bar with the side cover.
  2. Adjust Chain Tension: Use the tensioning knob to adjust until the chain snaps back when pulled from the bar.
  3. Fill the Oil Tank: Use only recommended bar and chain oil. Fill to the level indicated in the window.
  4. Install the Battery: Insert a charged Ryobi 18V ONE+ battery into the battery port until it clicks.

WARNING! Always wear appropriate safety gear (gloves, goggles, hearing protection, sturdy boots). Ensure the chainsaw is powered off and the battery is removed during assembly.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, complete final checks and lubrication.

  1. Check Chain Tension: Ensure chain is properly tensioned (should not sag from the bar).
  2. Test Chain Brake: Pull the hand guard/brake lever forward towards the bar to engage; it should stop the chain instantly. Push back to disengage.
  3. Lubrication Test: Hold the tip of the bar over a piece of cardboard and run the saw briefly. A thin line of oil should appear on the cardboard.
  4. Battery Charge: Ensure battery is fully charged for maximum performance and runtime.

CAUTION! Never operate the chainsaw with a loose chain. Always check tension before each use.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Trigger Switch, Lock-Off Button, Chain Brake/Hand Guard, Battery Release Button, Tensioning Knob.

Operation: Press and hold the Lock-Off button, then squeeze the Trigger to start the chain. Release the Trigger to stop. Engage the Chain Brake by pushing the Hand Guard forward.

Maintenance Points: Tensioning Knob for chain adjustment, Oil Filler Cap, Bar Cover Nuts.

Operation Instructions

For pruning, limbing, and cutting small logs.

  1. Starting: Ensure battery is installed. Hold saw firmly with both hands. Press Lock-Off and squeeze Trigger.
  2. Cutting: Let the chain reach full speed before contacting wood. Use the underside of the bar tip to avoid kickback. Do not force the saw.
  3. Stopping: Release the Trigger. The chain will stop. Engage the Chain Brake when carrying or not in immediate use.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of the "kickback zone" (upper quadrant of the bar tip). Never cut with this part of the bar.

Tip: Plan your cut and clear the work area of tripping hazards. Always cut at waist level or below.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Chain Sharpening: Use a round file and guide. Maintain the correct filing angle (typically 30°). Sharpen when saw produces fine dust instead of chips.
  2. Chain Tensioning: Check frequently, especially when new. Chain should be snug but pull freely from the bar. Adjust with tensioning knob when cool.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Regularly clean bar grooves. Flip the bar periodically for even wear.
  4. Oiling: Check oil level before each use. Refill with high-quality bar and chain oil. In cold weather, use winter-grade oil.

WARNING! Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the chain.

Safety Features

Chain Brake: Stops the chain within milliseconds if activated by kickback or manually. Lock-Off Button: Prevents accidental trigger activation. Hand Guard: Protects front hand. Low-Kickback Chain: Designed to reduce kickback force.

Care & Storage

Clean the chainsaw after each use. Remove sawdust from the body, bar, and air vents. Empty the oil tank for long-term storage. Store in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children. Remove the battery for storage.

CAUTION! Do not use water or solvents to clean. Use a brush or dry cloth. Store chain saw covered to prevent dust accumulation.
