Assembly Instructions

Assemble the chainsaw before first use.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar over studs, align chain with drive sprocket and bar groove, install bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Loosen bar nuts, turn tensioning screw clockwise until chain fits snug against bar, tighten bar nuts.
  3. Check Chain Lubrication: Fill oil tank with bar and chain oil.
  4. Fuel Mix: Prepare 2-cycle fuel (40:1 gas to oil ratio).

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned—too tight can damage saw; too loose can derail.

Fuel & Oil

WARNING! Never use automotive oil or straight gasoline. This will damage engine.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place saw on flat, clear ground.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.
  3. Set choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
  4. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine "pops".
  6. Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE.
  7. Pull starter rope until engine starts.
  8. Allow to warm up 30 seconds, then squeeze throttle to disengage choke.

Stopping: Release throttle, push STOP switch to OFF position.

Operating Procedures

Basic Cutting Techniques:

  1. Firm Grip: Hold rear handle with right hand, front handle with left hand.
  2. Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  3. Starting Cut: Let chain reach full speed before contacting wood.
  4. Buck Cutting: Support log off ground; cut from top down.
  5. Limbing: Cut branches from bottom to top of fallen tree.
  6. Kickback Prevention: Never cut with upper tip of guide bar.

Tip: Let the saw do the work—do not force it through the cut.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication.
Every 5 hoursClean air filter; check for damage.
Every 10 hoursClean spark arrestor screen in muffler.
Every 20 hoursReplace spark plug (gap 0.025 inch).
SeasonallyInspect fuel lines, filters, and anti-vibration mounts.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening

A sharp chain cuts faster and safer.

  1. Secure saw: Use vise to hold bar firmly.
  2. File size: Use 5/32" round file for standard chain.
  3. Angle: Maintain 30° filing angle; follow existing angle on cutter.
  4. File strokes: Apply equal pressure on forward strokes; 2-3 strokes per cutter.
  5. Depth gauges: Use flat file to lower rakers to proper height (0.025" below cutter).
  6. Equal sharpening: Sharpen all cutters to same length.

WARNING! Wear heavy gloves when handling chain.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil and store separately.
  3. Clean entire saw of dirt, sap, and debris.
  4. Store in dry, cool place away from ignition sources.
  5. Cover saw to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Never store saw with fuel in tank for extended periods.
