Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble bar and chain, fill fluids.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on mounting studs, loop chain over sprocket, adjust tension.
  2. Fill engine oil: Use high-quality 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio).
  3. Fill chain oil: Use bar and chain oil in reservoir.
  4. Check chain tension: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar.

WARNING! Always wear cut-resistant gloves during assembly. Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward.

Safety Information

Always operate with proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

  1. Wear safety gear: Helmet with face shield, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Clear work area: Remove debris and ensure secure footing.
  3. Check controls: Verify chain brake functions before each use.
  4. Never operate above shoulder height or on a ladder.

CAUTION! Kickback can occur; always grip firmly with both hands. Keep bystanders at least 15 feet away.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke control, stop switch, chain brake lever, primer bulb, and fuel/oil caps.

Right Side: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, handle. Left Side: Chain brake lever, choke control, stop switch. Top: Primer bulb, spark plug. Rear: Recoil starter grip.

Chain Tensioning: Side-access dial for quick adjustments. Chain Oiler: Automatic system with manual override button near front handle.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Engage chain brake, set choke, prime, pull starter. Warm Start: Choke off.

  1. Place on flat, clear surface. Engage chain brake.
  2. Move choke lever to FULL position.
  3. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  4. Pull starter rope sharply until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  5. Move choke to HALF position, pull until engine starts.
  6. Allow to warm up 30 seconds before disengaging chain brake.

Tip: Always hold front handle with left hand, place right foot through rear handle for stability during starting.

Operation & Cutting Techniques

Basic cuts: felling, limbing, bucking, and pruning.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path, make notch cut, then back cut leaving hinge.
  2. Limbing: Work from trunk outward, keep saw below waist.
  3. Bucking: Support log, cut from top down, avoid pinching bar.
  4. Pruning: Use bottom of bar, light throttle.

WARNING! Never cut with tip of bar to avoid kickback. Always cut at full throttle.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily: Check chain tension, sharpness, oil levels. Monthly: Clean air filter, spark plug, bar groove. Seasonally: Replace fuel filter, inspect clutch and sprocket.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension & oil
Every 5 hoursClean air filter
Every 10 hoursSharpen chain
Every 20 hoursClean spark plug, check bar wear
Every seasonReplace fuel filter, clean carburetor

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Use round file and guide to maintain 30° cutting angle.

  1. Secure bar: Clamp bar in vise.
  2. File angle: Hold file at 30°, follow existing angle.
  3. File depth gauges: Use flat file to lower rakers to .025 inch.
  4. Tension: Loosen bar nuts, adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Replace chain if damaged or excessively worn.

Storage Guidelines

For long-term storage, empty fuel tank and run engine dry. Clean entire saw, remove chain, and store in dry place.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days. Use fuel stabilizer if necessary.
