Assembly Instructions

Unpack all components. Assembly requires attaching guide bar and chain, filling fluids, and adjusting tension.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Remove side cover. Place chain over sprocket, aligning drive links with bar groove. Replace cover and hand-tighten nuts.
  2. Chain Tension: Adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten nuts securely.
  3. Fill Bar & Chain Oil: Use SAE 30 weight oil. Fill reservoir to MAX line.
  4. Check Controls: Verify throttle trigger, lockout, and chain brake function properly.

WARNING! Always wear cut-resistant gloves during assembly. Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward.

Fuel & Oil Mixing

Use fresh unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane) mixed with 2-cycle engine oil at 40:1 ratio.

  1. Use Poulan Pro 2-cycle oil or equivalent JASO FD/ISO-L-EGD certified oil.
  2. Mix 3.2 oz (95 ml) of oil with 1 gallon (3.8 L) of gasoline.
  3. Shake container thoroughly before refueling.
  4. Never use automotive oil or straight gasoline.
  5. Store mixed fuel for maximum 30 days.

CAUTION! Fuel is highly flammable. Mix outdoors, away from sparks/flames. Wipe spills immediately.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place saw on flat, clear surface.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing forward.
  3. Set choke to FULL position.
  4. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter rope sharply until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  6. Move choke to HALF position.
  7. Pull starter rope until engine starts.
  8. Allow to idle for 10 seconds before disengaging chain brake.

Warm Start: Choke in OFF position. Follow steps 4, 7-8.

Stopping: Release throttle, push STOP switch to OFF position.

Operating Procedures

Proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Pre-Cut Inspection: Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Clear work area.
  2. Grip: Hold firmly with both hands, thumbs wrapped around handles.
  3. Kickback Prevention: Never cut with upper tip. Maintain secure footing.
  4. Cutting: Let chain do the work; avoid forcing. Use full throttle during cuts.
  5. Bucking: Support log properly. Cut from top down for supported logs.
  6. Limbing: Stand uphill, cut from trunk outward.
  7. Felling: Notch face cut 1/3 diameter, back cut 2 inches above notch.

WARNING! Never operate above shoulder height. Watch for falling branches.

Chain Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

TaskFrequencyProcedure
Chain SharpeningEvery 2-3 hours of useUse round file matching chain pitch (5/32"). Maintain 30° angle.
Depth Gauge FilingEvery 3-4 sharpeningsFile to 0.025" below cutter top.
Chain Tension CheckBefore each useAdjust when chain sags from bar.
Sprocket InspectionMonthlyReplace if worn or damaged.
Bar MaintenanceWeeklyClean groove, flip bar monthly for even wear.

Cleaning & Storage

Proper cleaning and storage prolongs chainsaw life.

  1. After Use: Clean exterior with damp cloth. Remove sawdust from air intake and cooling fins.
  2. Long-Term Storage: Drain fuel tank. Run engine until it stops to clear carburetor. Remove chain, clean and oil it. Store in dry place.
  3. Winter Storage: Add fuel stabilizer if storing with fuel.

CAUTION! Never use water or high-pressure spray. Store out of children's reach.
