Safety Information

Read all instructions before use. Always wear protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, sturdy boots.
  2. Clear Work Area: Ensure no bystanders, especially children or pets, within 15 feet.
  3. Inspect Saw: Check for loose parts, chain tension, and damage before each use.
  4. Proper Grip: Hold firmly with both hands; right hand on rear handle, left on front.
  5. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires attaching guide bar and chain, and filling fluids.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar over studs, loop chain around sprocket and bar groove, adjust tension.
  2. Fill Engine Oil: Use high-quality 2-cycle engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio for most models).
  3. Fill Bar & Chain Oil: Use dedicated bar and chain oil in separate reservoir.
  4. Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward on top of bar. Overtightening can damage bar and chain.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Throttle Trigger, Throttle Lockout, Stop Switch, Choke Lever, Primer Bulb, Chain Brake Lever.

Components: Front Handle, Rear Handle, Fuel Tank Cap, Oil Tank Cap, Spark Plug, Air Filter, Muffler, Chain Catcher.

Operation: Squeeze throttle lockout and trigger to engage chain. Push chain brake lever forward to activate safety brake. Use choke and primer for cold starts.

Fuel & Oil

Fuel Mix: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane min.) and a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil meeting JASO FD or ISO-L-EGD standards.

  1. Mix Ratio: 50:1 (2.6 fl. oz. oil per 1 gallon gas). Check manual for specific model.
  2. Mixing: Pour oil into approved gas can, add gasoline, close lid, shake thoroughly.
  3. Bar & Chain Oil: Use only dedicated bar and chain oil for lubrication.
  4. Storage: Do not store mixed fuel for more than 30 days. Use fuel stabilizer if needed.

Tip: Never use automotive motor oil, diesel, or old/stale gasoline. This will damage the engine.

Starting & Operation

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place on clear, flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press primer bulb 5-10 times until fuel is visible.
  3. Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
  4. Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine 'pops'.
  5. Move choke to HALF CHOKE. Pull starter until engine starts.
  6. Allow to warm up 30 seconds, then squeeze throttle to disengage choke.

Cutting Techniques: Use lower quadrant of bar for cutting. Let saw do the work; don't force. Be aware of pinch points and kickback.

WARNING! Always engage chain brake when starting, carrying, or when not actively cutting. Keep hands away from moving chain.

Chain Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Chain Tension: Check frequently when hot and cold. Adjust via side tension screw.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file and guide to maintain 30° cutting angle. File each tooth evenly.
  3. Depth Gauges: File down rakers (depth gauges) periodically to maintain proper height.
  4. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove, flip bar regularly for even wear.
  5. Lubrication: Ensure oiler is working; chain should throw a fine line of oil.

CAUTION! Always wear heavy gloves when handling chain. A dull chain is dangerous and increases kickback risk.

Storage

Prepare chainsaw for storage if not used for more than 30 days.

  1. Drain all fuel from tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove spark plug, add 1 teaspoon of engine oil into cylinder, pull starter slowly 2-3 times, reinstall plug.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Loosen chain tension. Store in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Storing with fuel in the tank can cause gumming in the carburetor and fuel lines.
