It features a 2.4 cubic inch (40cc) 2-cycle engine, an 18-inch Oregon bar and chain, automatic oiling, a simplified starting system, and a tool-free chain tensioner. Below are key sections covering safety, assembly, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and specifications.
Safety Warnings & Symbols
Critical safety information to prevent serious injury or death. Understand all symbols and warnings before operation.
| Symbol/Area | Warning |
| Kickback Zone | Danger of rapid upward motion of guide bar. Keep firm grip, do not cut with tip. |
| Chain Brake | Engage before starting. Test regularly. |
| Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) | Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy boots, and chainsaw chaps. |
| Fuel Safety | Mix and fuel outdoors, away from sparks/flames. Use approved gas/oil container. |
| Operation Zone | Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. |
WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in severe injury. Read manual completely before use.

Assembly & Preparation
Assembling the chainsaw from the box. Most units come partially assembled.
- Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar over studs, loop chain over sprocket and onto bar groove. Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar.
- Install Bar Nut & Cover: Place clutch cover over bar, hand-tighten nuts.
- Tension Chain: Turn tool-free tensioner wheel clockwise until chain is snug against bar but can be pulled by hand. Tighten bar nuts fully.
- Fill Oil Tank: Use recommended bar & chain oil. Check for leaks.
- Mix & Add Fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum) mixed with high-quality 2-cycle oil at a 40:1 ratio (see next section).
CAUTION! Do not start the engine until assembly is complete and you have read the operation section.
Fuel & Oil Mix
The 2-cycle engine requires a gasoline and oil mixture. Do not use straight gasoline or automotive oil.
- Fuel Mix Ratio: 40:1 (3.2 oz of 2-cycle oil per 1 US gallon of gasoline).
- Gasoline: Fresh unleaded (87 octane or higher). Do not use fuel older than 30 days.
- 2-Cycle Oil: Use a high-quality oil certified for air-cooled engines (e.g., ISO-L-EGD, JASO FD).
- Mixing: Mix in an approved container before pouring into saw. Shake well.
- Bar & Chain Oil: Use a dedicated chainsaw bar oil for proper lubrication, especially in cold weather.
DANGER! Fuel is extremely flammable. No smoking. Allow engine to cool before refueling.
Starting & Stopping
Proper starting procedure is critical for safety and engine life.
Cold Start Procedure:
- Place saw on firm, flat ground. Engage chain brake.
- Press the primer bulb 5-10 times until fuel is visible.
- Set choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
- Pull starter rope briskly 3-5 times until engine "pops".
- Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE position.
- Pull starter rope again until engine starts. Let run for 10 seconds.
- Move choke to RUN position. Squeeze throttle trigger to disengage fast idle.
- Disengage chain brake before cutting.
Warm Start: Do not use choke. Follow steps from half-choke position.
Stopping: Release throttle, allow engine to idle for a few seconds, then press and hold the STOP/ON/OFF switch.
Operation & Cutting
Basic cutting techniques for the Wild Thing 2375.
- Stance & Grip: Stand firmly with feet apart. Grip front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand. Thumbs wrapped underneath.
- Kickback Avoidance: Do not cut with the upper tip of the bar. Be aware of pinch points when cutting logs under tension.
- Basic Cut: Let the chain do the work. Apply light downward pressure. Use full throttle during the cut.
- Felling a Tree (For small trees only): Not recommended for large trees. Plan escape path. Make notch cut on falling side, then back cut.
- Limbing & Bucking: Support log off ground. Cut from top side. Be cautious of released tension.
Tip: Check chain lubrication frequently. A visible "line" of oil should appear on wood during cutting.
Chain Maintenance
Regular chain care ensures performance and safety.
- Sharpening: Use a round file matching chain pitch (typically 5/32"). File each cutter at original angle (usually 30°). File all cutters to equal length.
- Tensioning: Chain stretches when new. Check tension frequently. Adjust when cool using tensioner wheel: snug against bar but pullable by hand.
- Replacement: Replace chain when cutters are worn short or damaged. Use Oregon 91PX series or equivalent (18", 3/8" LP, 57 drive links).
- Bar Care: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar monthly for even wear.
CAUTION! Always wear heavy gloves when handling the chain. Ensure engine is OFF and spark plug wire is disconnected.
Cleaning & Storage
Proper cleaning and storage prolongs saw life.
- After Use: Wipe down saw with a dry cloth. Clean air intake and cooling fins of debris.
- Long-Term Storage (Over 30 days):
- Drain all fuel from tank and carburetor by running engine until it stops.
- Remove chain and bar, clean, and coat with oil.
- Store in a dry, cool place, away from ignition sources.
- Pre-Season Check: Before use after storage, inspect all parts, refill with fresh fuel mix, and test operation safely.
WARNING! Never store the chainsaw with fuel in the tank inside a building. Fumes can accumulate and ignite.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
| Engine won't start | Old fuel, no spark, flooded | Use fresh fuel mix. Check spark plug. Wait if flooded, start with no choke. |
| Engine starts then dies | Clogged fuel filter, carburetor issue | Replace in-tank fuel filter. May require carburetor cleaning. |
| Chain won't turn | Chain brake engaged, chain too tight, clutch/sprocket worn | Disengage brake. Loosen chain. Inspect clutch drum and sprocket. |
| Chain throws off bar | Loose chain, worn bar, damaged drive links | Tension chain properly. Inspect bar groove and replace if worn. Check chain for damage. |
| Poor cutting performance | Dull chain, low chain oil | Sharpen chain. Refill oil tank. Check oiler hole for clog. |
| Excessive vibration | Loose parts, unbalanced chain | Tighten all nuts/bolts. Check chain for even sharpening. |
