Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Assembly requires attaching guide bar and chain, filling with fuel/oil mix.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar over studs, align chain with sprocket, adjust tension.
  2. Fuel mix: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane min.) with 2-cycle oil at 40:1 ratio (3.2 oz oil per gallon).
  3. Fill oil reservoir: Use bar and chain oil (not motor oil).
  4. Check chain tension: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar; adjust tensioning screw.

CAUTION! Use proper fuel mix to avoid engine damage. Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward.

Operation

Starting procedure: Place on flat surface, engage chain brake, set choke, pull starter cord.

  1. Cold start: Set choke to full, press primer bulb 5 times, pull cord until engine fires, move choke to half, pull to start.
  2. Warm start: Choke off, pull cord.
  3. Cutting: Hold saw firmly, keep throttle at full speed during cut, let chain do the work.
  4. Shut off: Release throttle, push stop switch to OFF.

Tip: Allow saw to warm up 30 seconds before cutting. Do not run at idle for extended periods.

Maintenance

WARNING! Disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain & Bar Care

Keep chain sharp; file at 30° angle. Rotate bar periodically for even wear.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch; maintain consistent angle.
  2. Depth gauges: File to proper height (0.025 in.) to prevent kickback.
  3. Bar groove: Clean with bar groove cleaning tool.
  4. Lubrication: Ensure oiler is working; check oil output.

CAUTION! Dull chain increases kickback risk and reduces cutting efficiency.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Engine won't startOld fuel, clogged filter, spark plugUse fresh fuel mix; clean/replace air filter; check spark plug.
Engine runs poorlyCarburetor adjustment, fuel lineAdjust H/L screws per manual; inspect fuel line for leaks.
Chain doesn't turnClutch, sprocket, brake engagedCheck clutch springs; replace worn sprocket; disengage chain brake.
Excessive vibrationLoose parts, unbalanced chainTighten all bolts/nuts; balance chain by sharpening evenly.
Chain throws oilOver-oiling, wrong oil typeAdjust oiler screw; use correct bar & chain oil.

Reset: For carburetor, reset to factory settings: H screw 1-1/4 turns out, L screw 1 turn out.
