Safety Information

Always wear proper safety gear and follow safe operating procedures.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and sturdy boots.
  2. Clear Work Area: Ensure no bystanders, pets, or obstacles within 15 feet.
  3. Inspect Saw: Check chain tension, sharpness, and all components before each use.
  4. Secure Workpiece: Never cut with the tip; avoid kickback situations.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous. Read and understand all instructions before use. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar: Remove side cover, position bar over studs, align chain drive links with sprocket.
  2. Install Chain: Place chain over bar with cutting edges facing forward on top.
  3. Tension Chain: Use tool-less adjuster to set proper tension (snug but pullable by hand).
  4. Fill Fluids: Add fuel mix to fuel tank and bar & chain oil to oil tank.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is disengaged during assembly. Wear gloves when handling chain.

Specifications

Controls and Operation

Main controls: On/Off switch, choke control, primer bulb, throttle trigger with lockout, chain brake lever, and rear handle.

Operation: Set on flat surface. Engage chain brake. Move On/Off switch to ON. Set choke to COLD START. Press primer bulb 5-6 times. Pull starter rope until engine fires. Move choke to RUN. Disengage chain brake. Squeeze throttle trigger to begin cutting.

Chain Tensioning: Use tool-less adjuster wheel when chain is cool. Adjust until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file and guide to maintain 30-degree cutting angle.
  2. Cleaning: Remove debris from bar groove, oil holes, and sprocket.
  3. Rotation: Periodically flip bar to ensure even wear.
  4. Inspection: Check for worn drive links, damaged bar rails, and sprocket wear.

Tip: A sharp chain cuts faster and reduces operator fatigue. Always stop engine before maintenance.

Fuel & Oil

Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum) mixed with high-quality 2-cycle engine oil.

  1. Fuel Mix: 40:1 ratio (3.2 oz oil per 1 gallon gas). Use oil labeled for air-cooled 2-cycle engines.
  2. Bar & Chain Oil: Use specially formulated oil for chainsaw bars and chains.
  3. Filling: Wipe area clean. Use funnel to avoid spills. Replace caps securely.
  4. Storage: Use fuel within 30 days. Add fuel stabilizer for longer storage.

WARNING! Never use automotive motor oil or dirty/gasoline. No ethanol-blended fuel is recommended.

Starting & Stopping

Follow proper procedure to start and stop engine safely.

  1. Cold Start: Engage chain brake. On/Off switch ON. Choke FULL. Prime 5-6 times. Pull starter until engine fires. Choke HALF. Pull until runs. Choke OFF.
  2. Warm Start: No choke or primer needed. Pull starter rope.
  3. Stopping: Release throttle. Let engine idle briefly. Move On/Off switch to OFF.
  4. Emergency Stop: Activate chain brake or move switch to OFF immediately.

CAUTION! Always engage chain brake when starting. Keep hands away from throttle trigger.

Cutting Techniques

Use proper techniques for safe and efficient cutting.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut and back cut. Never cut alone.
  2. Limbing: Stand uphill. Cut from trunk outward. Beware of spring poles.
  3. Bucking: Support log. Cut from top down. Avoid pinching chain.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly. Don't cut with tip. Use reduced-kickback chain.

WARNING! Kickback can occur suddenly. Always maintain secure grip and stance.

Storage

Prepare chainsaw for storage to prevent damage.

  1. Empty fuel tank or add stabilizer and run for 2 minutes.
  2. Drain bar & chain oil tank.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially air filter and cooling fins.
  4. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil. Store in dry place.
  5. Cover bar and engine to prevent dust entry.

CAUTION! Store out of reach of children and away from ignition sources.
