Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear protective gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip. Keep chain sharp.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use fresh fuel mix.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety rules can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when fatigued or under influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on studs, align chain with sprocket, adjust tension.
  2. Fill Oil Tank: Use recommended bar & chain oil. Check for leaks.
  3. Prepare Fuel Mix: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane min.) with 2-cycle oil at 40:1 ratio. Shake well.
  4. Fill Fuel Tank: Add fuel mix to tank. Wipe any spills.
  5. Final Check: Ensure all fasteners are tight. Test chain brake function.

CAUTION! Do not attempt assembly without proper tools. Incorrect assembly can cause malfunction or injury.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front Handle with throttle trigger, Rear Handle, Throttle Lockout, Chain Brake lever, Choke, Primer Bulb, Stop Switch.

Components: Engine, Fuel Tank, Oil Tank, Guide Bar, Chain, Sprocket, Muffler, Air Filter, Spark Plug.

Operation: Throttle lockout must be depressed before squeezing throttle. Chain brake stops chain rotation instantly when engaged (manually or by inertia). Choke and primer bulb aid cold starts. Stop switch cuts ignition.

Starting & Operation

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place saw on clear, level ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  3. Set choke to full position.
  4. Hold rear handle with right hand, place left foot through front handle.
  5. Pull starter cord briskly 2-3 times until engine "pops".
  6. Move choke to half position. Pull cord until engine starts.
  7. Allow to warm up at idle for 30 seconds. Disengage chain brake.

Cutting Tips: Plan cut. Use full throttle when cutting. Let chain do the work. Do not force. Beware of pinch points.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Inspect for loose parts.
Every 5 hoursClean air filter. Check spark plug condition.
Every 10 hoursClean cooling fins. Check fuel filter.
Every 20 hoursClean spark arrestor screen (if equipped).
SeasonallyReplace fuel filter, spark plug. Clean entire saw. Inspect bar for wear.

Note: Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain condition is critical for safety and performance.

  1. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust tensioning screw until chain fits snug against bar but can be pulled by hand. Tighten bar nuts. Re-check tension.
  2. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (.325" chain uses 5/32" file). Maintain factory filing angle (typically 30°). File all cutters to equal length. File depth gauges with flat file.

WARNING! Wear heavy gloves when handling chain. A dull or loose chain increases kickback risk.

Storage Guidelines

Prepare saw for storage to prevent fuel system damage.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Drain bar & chain oil tank.
  3. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil. Clean guide bar groove.
  4. Clean entire saw of dirt and sawdust.
  5. Store in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Storing with fuel in the system can cause gumming and starting problems.
