Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar over studs, loop chain over sprocket and bar, adjust tension.
  2. Fill fuel tank: Use fresh 50:1 gas/oil mixture (89 octane minimum).
  3. Fill chain oil tank: Use high-quality bar and chain oil.
  4. Check chain tension: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar.

WARNING! Always wear protective gear during assembly. Ensure chain brake is disengaged during setup.

Safety Precautions

Always operate with proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

  1. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Clear work area of obstacles and bystanders (minimum 15 feet).
  3. Check chain brake function before each use.
  4. Never operate above shoulder height or on a ladder.
  5. Use two hands on handles at all times during operation.

CAUTION! Kickback can occur without warning. Always grip firmly and be aware of the tip of the bar.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle trigger, choke control, decompression valve, master control lever, stop switch.

Controls: Master Control Lever (combines choke, start, and run positions), Throttle Trigger with lockout, Chain Brake lever, Decompression Valve button, Stop Switch.

Operation: Pull master control to choke for cold start, to start position, then release to run. Use decompression valve before pulling starter rope. Engage chain brake by pushing front hand guard forward.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Place saw on firm ground. Engage chain brake.

  1. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  2. Move master control lever to full choke position.
  3. Pull starter rope sharply 3-4 times until engine "pops".
  4. Move master control to half choke (start position).
  5. Pull starter rope until engine starts (1-2 pulls).
  6. Immediately squeeze throttle trigger to disengage choke.
  7. Allow 30-second warm-up at idle before cutting.

Tip: For warm restart, use start position without choke.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut 1/3 into tree, then back cut leaving hinge.
  2. Limbing: Stand uphill, cut from trunk outward, support limb when possible.
  3. Bucking: Support log off ground, cut from top down, avoid pinching bar.
  4. Use full throttle during cuts; allow chain to do the work without forcing.
  5. Check oiler output regularly; adjust if needed via oil flow screw.

WARNING! Never cut with the tip of the bar—this is the kickback zone.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures longevity and safe operation.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, sharpness, brake function, fuel/oil levels
Every 5 hoursClean air filter, check spark plug, clean cooling fins
Every 20 hoursReplace spark plug, clean fuel filter, check clutch
Every 50 hoursReplace fuel filter, clean carburetor, check all screws/bolts
SeasonallyDrain fuel for storage, replace bar and chain if worn

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for performance and safety.

  1. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts, adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back, tighten nuts.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5/32"). Maintain 30° cutting angle.
  3. Depth gauges: File down to maintain .025" below cutter edge.
  4. Even filing: File each cutter the same number of strokes for balanced cutting.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure saw is off and cool.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Drain fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil, store separately.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  5. Store in dry place, covered, away from ignition sources.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Engine won't startOld fuel, clogged filter, flooded engineUse fresh fuel mix; clean/replace filter; wait 15 min if flooded.
