Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Loosen bar nuts, position bar over studs, loop chain over sprocket, align chain on bar groove, tighten nuts.
  2. Fill oil tank: Use bar and chain oil (not motor oil).
  3. Mix fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane min.) with 2-cycle oil at 40:1 ratio (3.2 oz oil per 1 gal gas).
  4. Adjust chain tension: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar; tighten bar nuts after adjustment.

CAUTION! Wear gloves when handling chain; it is sharp.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Right side: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke lever, primer bulb. Left side: Chain brake/hand guard, front handle. Top: Fuel cap, oil cap, ON/OFF switch. Rear: Rear handle, starter grip.

Operation: Press throttle lockout before squeezing throttle. Choke for cold starts. Chain brake forward to engage, pull back toward handle to disengage.

Fuel & Oil

Use fresh unleaded gasoline (max 10% ethanol) mixed with high-quality 2-cycle engine oil at 40:1 ratio. Use dedicated bar and chain oil in oil tank.

  1. Mix fuel in approved container; shake well.
  2. Fill fuel tank on level surface; wipe spills.
  3. Check oil level before each use; adjust oiler screw for cutting conditions (more for hardwoods).

WARNING! No gasoline substitutes (e.g., E85, diesel). Store fuel in cool, dry place.

Starting & Operation

Starting procedure:

  1. Place saw on clear ground; engage chain brake.
  2. Switch ON; set choke to full (cold) or half (warm).
  3. Press primer bulb 5-6 times.
  4. Pull starter rope briskly until engine fires.
  5. Move choke to half; pull until engine runs.
  6. Disengage chain brake; squeeze throttle to idle.

Cutting: Use lower part of bar; let saw do the work; avoid pinching. For felling, plan escape path.

Maintenance

Daily: Check chain tension, sharpness, oil level. Clean air filter, cooling fins, and bar groove. Weekly: Inspect spark plug, fuel filter, bar for wear. Replace as needed.

Spark Plug: Champion RCJ-6Y or equivalent; gap 0.025". Air Filter: Clean with soapy water; dry completely.

Chain Sharpening

Use round file (5/32") and file guide. Maintain 30° cutting angle, 10° top plate angle. File each cutter equally; check depth gauges with gauge tool.

  1. Secure bar; mark starting cutter.
  2. File from inside out; maintain angle.
  3. File depth gauges to 0.025" below cutter.

Tip: Sharpen frequently; dull chain causes poor cutting and wear.

Storage

Long-term storage: Drain fuel tank and run engine dry. Remove chain, clean and oil bar and chain. Store in dry place, cover saw.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days; fuel degrades and damages carburetor.
