Safety Information

Always wear proper PPE: helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.

  1. Clear work area of obstacles and bystanders.
  2. Check chain tension and sharpness before each use.
  3. Ensure chain brake functions properly.
  4. Use proper fueling procedures away from ignition sources.
  5. Never operate above shoulder height or on unstable footing.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools that can cause serious injury or death. Read and understand all safety instructions before operation.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Attach guide bar: Place bar on studs, align chain with sprocket, install bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Install chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar, adjust tension.
  3. Fill tanks: Use fresh 50:1 fuel/oil mix in fuel tank, bar & chain oil in oil tank.
  4. Check controls: Verify throttle trigger, throttle lock, chain brake, and stop switch function.

CAUTION! Chain must be properly tensioned - should snap back when pulled from bar. Over-tightening damages bar and chain.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on top and rear handle. Front Handle: Chain brake lever, throttle trigger, throttle lockout. Rear Handle: Stop switch, choke control, decompression valve.

Additional Components: Side-mounted chain tensioner, adjustable oiler, air filter cover, spark plug cover, fuel and oil caps, muffler, carburetor adjustment screws (H, L, T).

Operation: Pull choke for cold start, push in once engine fires. Use decompression valve to reduce pulling effort. Engage chain brake by pushing forward on front hand guard. Adjust oil flow with screw near oil tank.

Starting & Operation

Starting procedure for cold and warm engine.

  1. Place saw on firm ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.
  3. Set choke to full position (cold start only).
  4. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  5. Hold rear handle with right hand, place left foot through front handle.
  6. Pull starter cord briskly until engine fires (2-3 pulls).
  7. Push choke to half position, pull until engine starts.
  8. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle, release chain brake.

Tip: Never drop-start or start above waist height. Always use proper starting position.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal cutting performance and safety.

  1. Chain sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5/32" or 7/32").
  2. File at 30° angle, maintain consistent depth gauge height.
  3. Chain tension: Adjust when chain sags from bar rails. Tighten until snug, then 1/4 turn back.
  4. Bar maintenance: Clean bar grooves weekly, flip bar monthly for even wear.
  5. Sprocket inspection: Replace drive sprocket when worn (typically every 2-3 chains).
  6. Oiler check: Verify oil flow by pointing bar at light surface and running at full throttle.

WARNING! Always wear cut-resistant gloves when handling chain. Disconnect spark plug wire during maintenance.

Engine Maintenance

Regular engine maintenance ensures longevity and performance.

IntervalMaintenance Task
DailyClean air filter, check spark plug, clean cooling fins
WeeklyClean fuel filter, check fuel lines, clean carburetor area
MonthlyCheck cylinder bolts, clean muffler screen, inspect anti-vibration mounts
SeasonallyReplace spark plug, clean carburetor, check piston through exhaust port

Carburetor Adjustment: H screw (high speed): 1-1.25 turns out. L screw (low speed): 1 turn out. T screw (idle): Adjust for smooth idle without chain movement.

Storage & Transport

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run carburetor dry for storage over 30 days.
  2. Remove chain, clean and oil thoroughly, store in oiled cloth.
  3. Clean entire saw, spray metal parts with corrosion inhibitor.
  4. Store in dry location, cover to prevent dust accumulation.
  5. Transport with chain guard installed, fuel tank empty or secured.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Modern ethanol fuel degrades quickly and damages fuel system components.
