Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble on clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on mounting studs, loop chain around sprocket and bar groove.
  2. Adjust chain tension: Use tool-free tensioner to achieve proper tension (check manual gap).
  3. Fill fuel tank: Mix 50:1 gasoline with 2-stroke oil (89 octane minimum).
  4. Fill oil tank: Use bar and chain oil only.
  5. Check all fasteners: Ensure all nuts and bolts are tight.

WARNING! Always wear protective gear during assembly and operation. Keep bystanders away.

Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear proper safety equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, steel-toe boots.
  2. Pre-Operation Check: Verify chain tension, sharpness, lubrication, and all controls function properly.
  3. Clear Work Area: Remove obstacles, ensure secure footing, plan escape path.
  4. Never operate: Above shoulder height, with one hand, on ladder, or when fatigued.

CAUTION! Kickback can occur without warning. Always maintain firm grip and proper stance.

Controls and Components

Main controls located on top and rear handle. Front Handle: Chain brake lever, throttle lockout. Rear Handle: Throttle trigger, stop switch, choke lever.

Additional Components: Decompression valve (if equipped), primer bulb, fuel/oil caps, spark plug, air filter cover, muffler.

Operation: Pull choke for cold start, push to run position. Press throttle lockout while squeezing trigger. Chain brake engages automatically on kickback or manually by pushing forward.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Place on flat ground, clear of debris.

  1. Engage chain brake by pushing forward.
  2. Set stop switch to "ON" position.
  3. Pull choke to full out position.
  4. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  5. Place foot in rear handle, pull starter cord briskly 2-3 times.
  6. Push choke halfway in after engine fires.
  7. Pull starter until engine runs.
  8. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Tip: Warm start: Choke off, follow steps 1-2 and 7-8.

Operation Guidelines

Proper techniques for safe and efficient cutting.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path (45° from fall direction). Make notch cut 1/3 tree diameter. Make felling cut 2 inches above notch.
  2. Limbing: Stand uphill, cut from trunk outward. Watch for springback on branches.
  3. Bucking: Support log properly. Cut from top down on tension side. Use wedges for pinched saw.
  4. Always: Use full throttle when cutting. Let chain do the work. Never force the saw.

WARNING! Beware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip). Never cut with this area.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
DailyCheck chain tension/sharpness, clean air filter, inspect bar/chain wear
10 hoursClean spark arrestor screen, check spark plug gap
25 hoursReplace air filter, clean fuel filter, check all fasteners
50 hoursReplace spark plug, clean carburetor air intake
100 hoursReplace fuel filter, decarbonize muffler, inspect piston/cylinder

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening

Sharp chain improves cutting efficiency and safety.

  1. Secure bar: Clamp bar in vise or secure saw.
  2. File size: Use 5/32-inch round file for .325 pitch chain.
  3. Filing angle: Maintain 30° cutting angle.
  4. File position: Match existing angle, file from inside out.
  5. Depth gauges: Use flat file to maintain .025-inch below cutters.
  6. Check: All cutters equal length, depth gauges uniform.

Tip: Sharpen when chain produces fine dust instead of chips.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Drain fuel tank: Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  2. Remove chain: Clean and soak in oil, store separately.
  3. Clean saw: Remove all debris, wipe with oily cloth.
  4. Spark plug: Remove, add teaspoon of oil, pull starter slowly, reinstall plug.
  5. Storage location: Cool, dry place away from ignition sources.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days.
