Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Wear proper PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip. Keep chain sharp.
  4. Fuel Safety: Mix fuel outdoors. Use fresh gasoline and 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio.

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause severe injury or death. Always use proper technique and safety equipment.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Loosen bar nuts, position bar, loop chain around sprocket, adjust tension.
  2. Fill oil tank: Use bar and chain oil only. Check for leaks.
  3. Mix fuel: Use 89+ octane gasoline with Pioneer 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio.
  4. Fill fuel tank: Use funnel to avoid spills. Replace cap securely.

CAUTION! Chain tension must be correct—snug but able to rotate freely by hand.

Controls and Components

Main controls: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke, stop switch, decompression valve.

Right Side: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, rear handle, chain brake lever. Left Side: Choke control, decompression valve, stop switch, front handle. Top: Fuel cap, oil cap, air filter cover. Rear: Starter grip.

Chain brake: Inertia-activated; manually engage by pushing hand guard forward. Chain tensioning: Adjust via side-mounted screw when bar nuts are loosened.

Starting & Operation

Starting procedure for cold and warm engine.

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.
  3. Set choke to full position (cold engine only).
  4. Press decompression valve to reduce compression.
  5. Pull starter rope briskly until engine fires.
  6. Move choke to half position, pull until engine starts.
  7. Allow 30-second warm-up at idle before cutting.

Tip: Always engage chain brake when starting or carrying saw.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Chain sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch. Maintain 30° cutting angle.
  2. Chain tension: Check frequently when hot and cold. Adjust as needed.
  3. Bar maintenance: Clean bar groove weekly. Flip bar monthly for even wear.
  4. Sprocket inspection: Replace if worn or damaged.
  5. Oiler test: Run saw at high idle over cardboard; should produce fine oil line.

WARNING! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure saw is off and cool.

Engine Maintenance

Air filter: Clean weekly with soapy water; replace if damaged. Spark plug: Clean and gap at .025 inch; replace annually. Fuel filter: Replace every season. Carburetor adjustment: Factory set; only adjust if necessary with proper tools.

Storage

For storage over 30 days: Drain fuel tank and run engine dry. Remove chain and bar; clean and oil. Store in dry place away from children.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods—fuel degrades and damages carburetor.
