Safety Information

Always wear appropriate PPE: helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.

  1. Clear work area of obstacles and bystanders.
  2. Inspect chainsaw before each use for damage or loose parts.
  3. Ensure chain brake is functional and chain is properly tensioned.
  4. Never operate with one hand or above shoulder height.
  5. Use proper fueling procedures away from ignition sources.

WARNING! Kickback can occur suddenly. Always grip firmly, maintain proper stance, and use reduced-kickback chain. Never operate when fatigued or under influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, position bar over studs, align chain drive links with sprocket.
  2. Install chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar. Adjust tension.
  3. Fill fuel: Use fresh 50:1 gasoline/oil mix (89 octane minimum).
  4. Fill bar oil: Use quality chainsaw bar oil (non-recycled).
  5. Check controls: Verify throttle trigger, throttle lock, stop switch, and chain brake function.

CAUTION! Chain must be properly tensioned—snug against bar but pull freely by hand.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front Handle with Chain Brake, Rear Handle with Throttle Trigger, Throttle Lockout, Stop Switch, Decompression Valve, Choke, Primer Bulb.

Components: Muffler, Air Filter Cover, Spark Plug, Fuel Cap, Oil Cap, Bar Nuts, Chain Tensioner, Side Cover.

Operation: Pull choke for cold start, press decompression valve, set chain brake, pull starter cord. Release choke after engine fires. Use throttle lockout with trigger for safety. Engage chain brake by pushing front handle forward.

Starting & Operation

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing forward handle.
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Set choke to full position.
  5. Press primer bulb 5-6 times.
  6. Hold rear handle with right foot, pull starter cord sharply until engine fires.
  7. Move choke to half position, pull again to start.
  8. Allow 30-second warm-up at idle before cutting.

Cutting Tips: Let chain do the work; avoid forcing. Use bucking spikes for leverage. Plan escape path. Watch for binding in cut.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Daily maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Chain Sharpening: Use round file (7/32" for .325" pitch). Maintain 30° top plate angle, 10° file tilt. Sharpen when chips become dust.
  2. Chain Tension: Adjust when chain sags from bar. Loosen bar nuts, turn tension screw clockwise until snug. Tighten bar nuts.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove weekly. Flip bar each season for even wear. Dress bar rails if burred.
  4. Oiler Check: Run saw at full throttle over light surface; oil line should appear. Adjust oiler screw if needed.

WARNING! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Disconnect spark plug before maintenance.

Engine Maintenance

Regular engine care prolongs life and ensures reliability.

CAUTION! Use only manufacturer-approved parts. Never run engine without air filter.

Storage & Transport

For storage over 30 days:

  1. Drain fuel tank and run carburetor dry.
  2. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins.
  4. Store in dry, cool place with bar cover installed.
  5. Transport with chain guard and bar cover. Secure in vehicle to prevent movement.

Tip: Use fuel stabilizer if storing with fuel.
