CAUTION! Ensure all components are properly assembled before first use. Tighten all fasteners securely.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Front Panel: Power switch with safety lock, Angle adjustment dial, Chain vise handle, Viewing window latch.

Adjustments: Angle dial (set to chain manufacturer specification), Vise tension (tight enough to hold chain securely), Chain stop position (aligns cutter for consistent sharpening).

Sharpening Head: Motor housing, Wheel guard, Dressing tool storage. Base: Rubber feet for stability, Mounting holes for permanent installation.

Sharpening Procedure

Follow these steps for proper chain sharpening:

  1. Clean chain thoroughly before sharpening.
  2. Set angle dial to chain manufacturer's specification (typically 30°).
  3. Clamp chain in vise with first cutter aligned to chain stop.
  4. Close viewing window and secure latch.
  5. Turn on power and gently lower grinding wheel onto cutter.
  6. Apply light pressure for 2-3 seconds; do not overheat.
  7. Release wheel, advance chain to next cutter, repeat.
  8. Sharpen all cutters on one side, then rotate chain for opposite side.
  9. Check each cutter for consistent length and angle.

Tip: Sharpen every third time you refuel your chainsaw for optimal performance.

Depth Gauge Setting

Proper depth gauge (raker) height is critical for safe operation.

  1. After sharpening cutters, check depth gauges.
  2. Place depth gauge tool over chain with flat side against cutter.
  3. If depth gauge protrudes above tool, file it down until flush.
  4. Maintain consistent depth across all gauges.
  5. Round off front edge of depth gauge for smooth operation.

WARNING! Cutting with improperly set depth gauges can cause dangerous kickback. Always set depth gauges after sharpening.

Maintenance and Care

Regular maintenance ensures long service life.

  1. After each use: Clean metal dust from vise and work area.
  2. Weekly: Check grinding wheel for wear and dressing.
  3. Monthly: Inspect power cord for damage; tighten all fasteners.
  4. Seasonally: Lubricate vise mechanism with light oil.

CAUTION! Unplug before any maintenance. Store in dry location away from moisture.

Grinding Wheel Replacement

Replace wheel when diameter reduces to 3.5 inches or if chipped.

  1. Disconnect power.
  2. Remove viewing window and wheel guard.
  3. Loosen spindle nut and remove old wheel.
  4. Install new wheel with arrow pointing in direction of rotation.
  5. Secure nut firmly but do not overtighten.
  6. Replace guard and window.
  7. Dress new wheel before first use.
