Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear protective gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Clear Work Area: Ensure no bystanders, especially children or pets, are within 15 feet.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, away from ignition sources. Use fresh fuel mix (see Specifications).
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip). Use reduced-kickback chain.
  5. Carrying: Carry with engine off, bar pointed backward, and chain cover on.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Loosen bar nuts, fit bar onto studs, place chain over sprocket and bar (cutting edges forward on top), tension chain, tighten nuts.
  2. Add Bar & Chain Oil: Fill oil tank with specified bar and chain oil.
  3. Fuel Mix: Mix fresh unleaded gasoline (min. 90 octane) with 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (20ml oil per 1 liter gas). Shake well.
  4. Fill Fuel Tank: Add fuel mix to translucent tank. Wipe any spills.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned (should snap back when pulled from bar).

Specifications

Controls and Components

Front/Top: Guide bar, chain, chain brake (front hand guard), chain tensioner, bar nuts. Handle Area: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke lever, stop switch, primer bulb (if equipped). Rear: Fuel cap, oil cap, rear handle, spark plug cover.

Operation Controls: Throttle trigger (speed control), throttle lockout (must be depressed to engage throttle), choke (for cold start), stop switch (OFF/RUN), primer bulb (pumps fuel for easier start).

Safety Features: Chain brake (manual/inertia activated), anti-vibration system, right-hand guard.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start:

  1. Place on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake (push hand guard forward).
  3. Set choke to FULL position.
  4. Press primer bulb 5-6 times (if equipped).
  5. Pull starter cord slowly until resistance felt, then pull briskly.
  6. After engine fires, move choke to HALF, pull again.
  7. When engine runs, squeeze throttle to disengage choke.
  8. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Warm Start: Choke OFF. Follow steps 4-8.

Stopping: Release throttle, let engine idle briefly, press stop switch to OFF.

EMERGENCY STOP: Activate chain brake or press stop switch immediately.

Cutting Techniques

Always use proper stance: feet shoulder-width apart, firm grip.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path (45° behind). Make notch cut (1/3 diameter), then felling cut. Use wedges if needed.
  2. Limbing: Cut branches from bottom to top. Stand on opposite side of log.
  3. Bucking: Support log off ground. Cut from top, avoid pinching bar.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Do not cut with bar tip. Keep saw at waist level or below.

Tip: Let the chain do the work; do not force the saw.

Maintenance Schedule

TaskFrequency
Check chain tensionBefore each use
Clean air filterEvery 10 hours
Check spark plugEvery 20 hours
Clean spark arrestor (if equipped)Every 20 hours
Replace fuel filterEvery season or 50 hours
Clean cooling finsEvery season
Check anti-vibration mountsEvery 50 hours
Professional inspectionAnnually or 100 hours

CAUTION! Perform maintenance only when engine is cool and spark plug wire disconnected.

Chain Sharpening

Use round file matching chain pitch (3/8"). Maintain 30° cutting angle, 10° top plate angle.

  1. Secure bar. Identify shortest cutter; file all to same length.
  2. File from inside out, maintaining angle. File each cutter evenly.
  3. File depth gauges (rakers) with flat file. Height difference: 0.025 inches (0.65 mm).
  4. Clean chain with kerosene, lubricate before use.

WARNING! Dull chain increases kickback risk and reduces efficiency.

Storage

For long-term storage (over 30 days):

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
  2. Remove spark plug, add 1 tsp oil into cylinder, pull starter 2-3 times, reinstall plug.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil. Loosen chain tension.
  5. Store in dry, cool place, covered.

CAUTION! Old fuel can damage engine. Always use fresh mix.
