Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear proper safety equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, and close-fitting clothing.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure stable footing and clear debris.
  3. Electrical Safety: Use a grounded outlet. Keep cord away from cutting area and sharp objects.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip of bar. Be aware of kickback zone.
  5. Chain Brake Test: Test chain brake before each use by engaging with wrist.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate chainsaw while tired or under influence.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack all parts. Assembly requires attaching guide bar and chain, filling oil tank, and checking tension.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place chain over sprocket, align bar with mounting studs, secure with bar nuts (hand-tight).
  2. Adjust Chain Tension: Use side knob to adjust until chain snaps back when pulled from bar (approx. 1/8 inch play).
  3. Fill Oil Tank: Use only chainsaw bar & chain oil. Fill to MAX line through fill cap.
  4. Power Connection: Plug into 120V grounded outlet. Ensure cord is undamaged.
  5. Final Check: Verify chain moves freely, all fasteners are tight, and safety features function.

CAUTION! Do not force parts. Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward direction.

Operation Guide

Starting: Ensure chain brake is engaged. Press safety lock and trigger simultaneously. Cutting: Use full throttle for cuts; let chain do the work.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Verify chain tension, oil level, and clear work area.
  2. Starting Procedure: Place on ground, engage chain brake, press safety lock, squeeze trigger.
  3. Basic Cutting: Hold saw firmly. Use middle of bar. Apply light downward pressure.
  4. Bucking (cutting fallen logs): Support log. Cut from top. Beware of pinching.
  5. Limbing (removing branches): Cut from trunk outward. Support branch weight.
  6. Shutdown: Release trigger, engage chain brake, unplug from outlet.

Tip: Keep saw sharp. Dull chain causes excessive strain and kickback risk.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. After Each Use: Clean saw of debris. Check chain tension and oil level.
  2. Weekly: Inspect chain for damage. Clean bar groove and oil holes.
  3. Monthly: Check all fasteners for tightness. Clean air vents. Inspect power cord.
  4. Seasonal: Replace chain if worn. Lubricate sprocket. Deep clean entire unit.

CAUTION! Always unplug before maintenance. Use only recommended oils and parts.

Chain Sharpening & Replacement

Sharp chain cuts efficiently and safely. Replace when worn beyond repair.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file (5/32 inch) and file guide. Maintain 30° angle. File all cutters evenly.
  2. Depth Gauge Setting: Use flat file to maintain depth gauge clearance (0.025 inch).
  3. Replacement: When cutters are worn to less than 1/4 inch or damaged. Use only Oregon® 91PX series chain.
  4. Installation: Follow assembly steps. Ensure proper direction (cutting teeth forward).

WARNING! Dull or damaged chain increases kickback risk. Replace immediately if damaged.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents damage and extends tool life.

  1. Clean thoroughly, removing all sawdust and resin.
  2. Drain oil tank or fill completely to prevent moisture.
  3. Loosen chain tension to relieve pressure on bar.
  4. Store in dry, cool place away from children.
  5. Cover to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Do not store with fuel (if applicable) in enclosed spaces. Keep away from heat sources.
