Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, and close-fitting clothing.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure stable footing.
  3. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip of bar. Use reduced-kickback chain.
  4. Electrical Safety: For corded models, use outdoor-rated extension cord. Keep cord away from cutting area.
  5. Chain Brake Test: Test chain brake before each use by engaging front hand guard.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height or on a ladder. Always plan escape path from falling wood.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble before first use.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place chain over bar sprocket, align bar with mounting studs, tighten nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Pull bar tip up, use tensioning knob to adjust until chain fits snugly against bar (can be rotated by hand).
  3. Fill Oil Tank: Use recommended bar & chain oil. Fill to level indicated in window.
  4. Power Connection: For corded models, plug into grounded outlet. For cordless, insert fully charged battery.
  5. Final Check: Ensure all fasteners are tight. Test chain brake and trigger lock-off.

CAUTION! Do not operate without proper chain tension and lubrication. Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward.

Specifications

Controls and Functions

Main Controls: Trigger switch, lock-off button, front hand guard/chain brake, tension adjustment knob, oil filler cap.

Operation: Press lock-off button, then squeeze trigger to start chain. Release trigger to stop chain. Engage front hand guard forward to activate chain brake.

Adjustments: Chain tension (via side knob), oil flow (via screw near oil tank - some models).

Indicators: Oil level window, battery charge indicator (cordless models).

Operation Guide

Basic cutting techniques for safe and effective use.

  1. Starting Cut: Apply light pressure, let chain do the work. Do not force.
  2. Buckling (cutting fallen logs): Support log off ground. Cut from top down, avoid contact with soil.
  3. Limbing (removing branches): Stand on left side of trunk. Cut downward from top of branch.
  4. Pruning: Make undercut first, then top cut to avoid bark tearing.
  5. Kickback Reaction: If kickback occurs, chain brake should engage. Release trigger immediately.
  6. After Cutting: Allow chain to stop completely before moving saw. Engage chain brake when carrying.

Tip: Keep chain sharp. Dull chain requires more force, increases kickback risk.

Chain Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file and guide. Maintain original filing angle (typically 30°). File each cutter evenly.
  2. Depth Gauge Setting: Use flat file to maintain proper depth gauge clearance (0.025" typically).
  3. Tension Check: Check tension frequently, especially during first hour of use. Adjust when chain sags.
  4. Lubrication: Refill oil tank before each use. Check oil flow by pointing bar at light surface; should show oil line.
  5. Chain Rotation: Rotate bar periodically to ensure even wear.
  6. Replacement: Replace chain when cutters are worn beyond repair or damaged. Replace bar if grooves are worn or uneven.

WARNING! Always disconnect power before performing maintenance. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling chain.

Cleaning & Storage

Clean after each use. Store in dry, secure location.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with dry cloth. Remove sawdust from air vents and oil ports.
  2. Bar & Chain: Clean grooves with brush. Apply light oil to prevent rust.
  3. Air Filter: Clean filter (if equipped) according to manual instructions.
  4. Storage: Empty oil tank or use stable oil. Store in case with chain brake engaged.
  5. Battery Care (cordless): Remove battery. Store at room temperature. Charge every 6 months if not used.

CAUTION! Do not use compressed air to clean motor vents. Do not immerse in water or use solvents.
