Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Loosen bar nuts, position chain on bar with cutters facing forward, fit bar onto studs, tension chain correctly.
  2. Fill fuel tank: Use fresh 50:1 gasoline/oil mix (see Fuel section).
  3. Fill oil tank: Use high-quality bar and chain oil.
  4. Check chain tension: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar.

WARNING! Always wear protective gear (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, chainsaw chaps, steel-toe boots) during assembly and operation.

First-Time Operation

Before starting, ensure chain brake is engaged (pulled forward).

  1. Prime engine: Press primer bulb 5-7 times until fuel is visible.
  2. Set choke: Move lever to FULL CHOKE position for cold start.
  3. Pull starter cord: Place on ground, hold handle, pull cord briskly until engine fires.
  4. Disengage choke: Move to HALF CHOKE, pull again until engine runs.
  5. Warm up: Allow engine to idle for 30 seconds before cutting.
  6. Disengage chain brake: Pull back toward handle to release.

CAUTION! Never drop-start or start above waist height. Keep bystanders at least 10 feet away.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, stop switch, choke lever, primer bulb, chain brake lever, decompression valve.

Handles: Front handle with chain brake; rear handle with throttle trigger. Components: Muffler, spark plug, air filter, fuel cap, oil cap, bar nuts, chain tensioner screw.

Operation: Squeeze throttle trigger lockout and throttle to increase speed. Release to idle. Push stop switch to OFF to stop engine. Engage chain brake by pushing lever forward (kickback protection).

Fuel & Lubrication

Fuel mix: 50:1 ratio. Use 89+ octane unleaded gasoline and JASO FD or ISO-L-EGD certified 2-stroke oil.

  1. Mix fuel in approved container: Add oil to gasoline, shake well.
  2. Fill fuel tank: Use funnel; avoid spills. Wipe any fuel from saw.
  3. Bar and chain oil: Use high-quality oil designed for chainsaws. Fill oil tank before each use.
  4. Check oil flow: Run saw at high speed over light-colored surface; look for oil splatter.

Tip: Never use old fuel (older than 30 days). Dispose of fuel properly.

Cutting Techniques

Supports felling, limbing, bucking, and pruning.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut (1/3 diameter), then back cut. Use wedges if needed.
  2. Limbing: Stand uphill, cut from trunk outward. Beware of spring poles.
  3. Bucking: Support log. Cut from top, avoid pinching chain.
  4. Pruning: Use bottom of bar. Do not cut above shoulder height.
  5. Kickback prevention: Keep nose of bar away from objects. Maintain firm grip.
  6. Sharpening: Use round file and guide. File at 30° angle every few hours of use.

WARNING! Never cut with tip of bar. Always cut at full throttle. Watch for falling branches.

Safety Features

Chain Brake: Stops chain within milliseconds if activated manually or by kickback. Anti-Vibration: Rubber mounts reduce fatigue. Throttle Lockout: Prevents accidental throttle engagement. Right-Hand Guard: Protects from broken chain. Decompression Valve: Reduces cylinder pressure for easier starting.

Maintenance & Storage

After each use: Clean air filter, check chain tension, inspect for damage. Monthly: Clean spark arrestor, sharpen chain, check bar for wear. Storage: Drain fuel, run carburetor dry, remove chain and clean, store in dry place.

CAUTION! Disconnect spark plug before maintenance. Use only genuine Mac parts.
