Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear proper PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Avoid contact with bar nose.
  4. Fuel Safety: Mix fuel outdoors. Use approved gasoline/oil ratio (50:1).

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause severe injury or death. Never operate with one hand.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Loosen bar nuts, position chain on bar, align bar with drive sprocket, tighten nuts.
  2. Adjust chain tension: Use side tensioner to achieve proper tension (slight sag on bottom).
  3. Fill fluids: Add 50:1 fuel/oil mix to fuel tank. Fill chain oil reservoir with bar and chain oil.
  4. Check controls: Ensure throttle trigger, lockout, and chain brake function properly.

CAUTION! Chain must be installed with cutting teeth facing forward on top of bar.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Front handle with throttle trigger, rear handle, choke lever, decompression valve, chain brake lever, and master control lever.

Master Control Lever: Combines choke, start, and run positions.

Safety Features: Throttle lockout (must be depressed to engage throttle), chain brake (manual or inertia-activated), right-hand guard. Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, spark plug, chain tensioner, oiler adjustment screw.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Place on flat ground. Engage chain brake.

  1. Set master control to choke position (full up).
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Pull starter rope sharply 3-5 times until engine "pops".
  4. Move master control to half-throttle position.
  5. Pull starter rope until engine starts.
  6. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.

Warm Start: Master control in run position. No choke needed.

Tip: Always engage chain brake when starting.

Operation & Cutting Techniques

Basic cutting: Use full throttle when cutting. Let chain do the work.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut, then felling cut. Use wedges if needed.
  2. Limbing: Stand on opposite side of log. Cut from top down.
  3. Bucking: Support log properly. Cut from top, avoid ground contact.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain firm grip. Never cut with bar nose.
  5. Pinch Prevention: Plan cuts to avoid pinching bar.

WARNING! Never operate above shoulder height. Watch for falling limbs.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily: Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Clean air filter. Inspect for loose parts.

IntervalTask
Each useClean saw, check chain brake function
10 hoursClean/replace air filter, check spark plug
20 hoursClean cooling fins, check fuel filter
50 hoursReplace spark plug, clean carburetor screen
100 hoursInspect clutch, sprocket, anti-vibration mounts

CAUTION! Disconnect spark plug before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (.325"). Maintain 30° cutting angle.

  1. Secure bar in vise.
  2. File from inside out, maintaining angle.
  3. File all cutters to equal length.
  4. File depth gauges with gauge tool.

Tensioning: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar. Adjust when cold.

Tip: Sharpen chain frequently for best performance and safety.

Storage Guidelines

Long-term storage: Empty fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer. Run engine dry.

  1. Clean entire saw thoroughly.
  2. Remove chain, clean and oil it.
  3. Store in dry place, bar and chain separately.
  4. Cover to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
