Safety Instructions

Always wear proper safety equipment and follow safe operating procedures.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Pre-Operation Check: Inspect chain tension, sharpness, bar condition, and all fasteners before each use.
  3. Clear Work Area: Ensure no obstacles, bystanders, or animals within 15 feet.
  4. Proper Stance: Maintain secure footing with feet shoulder-width apart.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height or with one hand. Kickback can cause serious injury or death.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and assemble components following these steps.

  1. Attach Guide Bar: Place bar on studs, align chain with sprocket, adjust tension.
  2. Install Chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar.
  3. Fuel Mix: Use 50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil mixture (89 octane minimum).
  4. Fill Tanks: Add fuel mix to fuel tank; add bar and chain oil to oil tank.
  5. Chain Tension: Adjust until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.

CAUTION! Use only recommended oils. Improper fuel mix can damage engine.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, choke control, stop switch, decompression valve, chain brake lever.

Components: Front handle with hand guard, rear handle, fuel tank cap, oil tank cap, spark plug, air filter cover, muffler, chain tensioner, master control lever.

Chain Brake: Manually activated by front hand guard; automatically activated by inertia during kickback. Decompression Valve: Press to reduce cylinder pressure for easier starting. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle trigger can be engaged.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Place on flat, clear surface. Engage chain brake.

  1. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  2. Set master control lever to choke position.
  3. Press throttle trigger lockout and throttle trigger simultaneously 3-4 times.
  4. Pull starter rope sharply until engine fires (usually 3-5 pulls).
  5. Move master control lever to half-throttle position.
  6. Pull starter rope until engine starts.
  7. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Tip: Warm start: Use half-throttle position, no choke needed.

Operation Guidelines

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Planning: Assess tree/limb fall direction, escape routes.
  2. Notching: Make top cut first at 70° angle, then horizontal cut to create notch.
  3. Felling Cut: Make horizontal cut opposite notch, leaving hinge wood.
  4. Limbing: Work from trunk base upward, keep trunk between you and chain.
  5. Buckling: Support log properly, cut from top down, avoid pinching chain.
  6. Kickback Prevention: Maintain firm grip, don't cut with bar tip, use reduced-kickback chain.

WARNING! Never cut with upper quadrant of bar nose. This is primary kickback danger zone.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily: Check chain tension, sharpness, bar condition, fasteners. Clean air filter, check fuel/oil levels.

Weekly: Clean cooling fins, spark arrestor screen. Inspect spark plug, replace if electrodes worn.

Monthly: Clean fuel filter, check fuel lines, clean carburetor air passage. Grease bar tip sprocket.

Seasonally: Replace fuel filter, inspect anti-vibration elements, check clutch and sprocket wear.

Chain Sharpening

Use round file matching chain pitch (.325"). Maintain 30° cutting angle, 10° top plate angle.

  1. Secure bar in vise.
  2. File from inside out, maintaining original angles.
  3. File all cutters to same length.
  4. Check depth gauges with gauge tool, file down if too high.
  5. File depth gauges to 0.025" below cutter edge.

CAUTION! Wear gloves when handling chain. Dull chain increases kickback risk.

Storage Instructions

Long-term storage (over 30 days):

  1. Drain fuel tank completely.
  2. Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins.
  5. Store in dry place, cover to prevent dust.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel deteriorates and damages carburetor.
