Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  1. PPE Required: Safety helmet with face shield/ear protection, chainsaw chaps or pants, cut-resistant gloves, steel-toe boots.
  2. Pre-Operation Check: Inspect chain sharpness and tension, check for loose parts, ensure chain brake functions, verify fuel/oil levels.
  3. Operating Zone: Maintain a 15-foot (5-meter) safety distance from others. Never operate above shoulder height.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of the kickback zone (upper quadrant of guide bar nose). Use reduced-kickback chain and maintain a firm grip.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, stable surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Loop chain over bar with cutting teeth facing forward on top. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fluids: Use fresh, high-quality 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline at the ratio specified in the manual (e.g., 50:1). Fill bar and chain oil reservoir with proper bar oil.
  3. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, lockout, and chain brake move freely.
  4. Charge Ignition: Pull starter cord slowly until resistance is felt (engages decompression valve if equipped).

CAUTION! Use only recommended fuels and lubricants. Incorrect mixtures can cause engine damage.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front Handle with Chain Brake lever, Rear Handle with Throttle Trigger and Lockout, Master Control Lever (combines choke/stop functions), Decompression Valve button (if equipped).

Components: Muffler, Spark Plug, Air Filter Cover, Fuel Cap, Oil Cap, Chain Catcher, Hand Guard, Chain Tensioner Screw.

Operation: Master Control positions: (I) Run, (II) Full Choke (cold start), (III) Half Choke/Warm Start. Chain Brake: Push forward manually to engage; inertia activates during kickback. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle can be engaged.

Starting & Stopping Procedure

Cold Start:

  1. Place saw on firm ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Set Master Control to full choke (II). Press decompression valve if equipped.
  3. Pull starter cord sharply until engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls).
  4. Immediately set Master Control to half choke (III). Pull again to start.
  5. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle. Release chain brake.

Warm Start: Set Master Control directly to run (I). Pull to start.

Stopping: Release throttle. Set Master Control to stop (0).

Tip: Always start with the chain brake engaged to prevent chain movement.

Cutting Techniques

Supports felling, limbing, bucking, and pruning.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut (1/3 of tree diameter). Make felling cut opposite notch. Use wedges if needed.
  2. Limbing: Stand uphill. Cut branches from base to top on opposite side. Use the saw's bumper spike as a pivot.
  3. Bucking: Support log. Cut from top down. Avoid cutting into dirt. For tensioned logs, cut compression side first.
  4. Pruning: Use light, controlled cuts. Do not let chain contact ground.

WARNING! Beware of kickback. Never cut with the nose of the guide bar. Maintain secure footing and balance.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily/Before Use: Check chain tension/sharpness, fuel/oil levels, air filter cleanliness, loose fasteners, chain brake function.

Weekly/Every 10 Hours: Clean air filter, check spark plug condition, clean cooling fins, inspect guide bar for wear and groove damage, clean saw exterior.

Monthly/Every 50 Hours: Replace spark plug, clean fuel filter, check anti-vibration elements, inspect clutch and sprocket.

Annually/Storage: Drain fuel system, clean thoroughly, inspect all components, replace worn parts (bar, chain, sprocket).

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharpening: Use correct round file size and guide. File each cutter at the specified angle (typically 30°). Maintain equal length on all cutters. File depth gauges (rakers) with a flat file and gauge.

Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Adjust with tensioner screw when chain is cool. Proper tension: Drive links should not pull out of bar groove. Re-check after first few minutes of operation.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. A loose chain can derail; an overtightened chain can break or damage the engine.

Storage Guidelines

For storage over 30 days:

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Drain bar and chain oil tank.
  3. Remove chain, clean in solvent, dry, and coat with oil.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  5. Store in a dry, cool place, away from ignition sources.

CAUTION! Old fuel can gum up the carburetor. Never store a saw with fuel in the tank for long periods.

Troubleshooting
