Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear protective gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear chainsaw chaps, helmet with face shield, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip. Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use correct fuel/oil mix.

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause severe injury or death. Always engage chain brake when not cutting.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble bar and chain before first use.

  1. Attach Guide Bar: Place bar onto studs, align chain tensioning pin.
  2. Install Chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar. Fit chain over sprocket.
  3. Adjust Chain Tension: Loosen bar nuts, use side tensioner to achieve proper tension (should snap back when pulled from bar).
  4. Fuel Mix: Use high-quality 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (2%) with 90+ octane gasoline. Shake well.
  5. Fill Tanks: Add fuel mix to fuel tank and bar/chain oil to oil tank.

CAUTION! Never operate without proper chain tension and lubrication.

Controls and Components

Main controls located on rear handle and body.

Right Side: Throttle trigger, Throttle lockout (must be depressed to engage throttle), Chain brake lever (front hand guard), Stop switch (ON/OFF).

Left Side: Choke control, Decompression valve (if equipped), Primer bulb, Master control lever (combines choke/stop/run).

Rear: Rear handle with anti-vibration, Fuel cap, Oil cap.

Front: Muffler, Chain catcher, Bar studs, Chain tensioner screw.

Starting & Operation

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing front hand guard forward.
  3. Set master control to choke position (full down).
  4. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine 'pops'.
  6. Move master control to half-throttle position.
  7. Pull starter until engine starts.
  8. Blip throttle to disengage choke, allow 30-second warm-up.

Cutting Techniques: Use full throttle when cutting. Let chain do the work. Plan escape path. Beware of pinch points.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
DailyCheck chain tension, sharpness; Clean air filter; Check oil/fuel levels
10 hoursClean spark arrestor screen; Inspect spark plug
25 hoursReplace air filter; Clean cooling fins; Check all nuts/bolts
50 hoursReplace spark plug; Clean carburetor air intake; Check fuel filter
100 hoursClean muffler; Check anti-vibration elements; Professional inspection recommended

Note: Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper chain maintenance ensures performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 3/8"). Maintain 30° cutting angle. File all cutters evenly.
  2. Depth Gauges: File depth gauges with flat file to maintain 0.025" (0.65mm) below cutter.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Rotate bar weekly to ensure even wear. Clean bar groove. File down burrs on rails.
  4. Lubrication: Always use proper bar and chain oil. Check oiler output regularly.

WARNING! Dull chain increases kickback risk and reduces cutting efficiency.

Storage & Transport

For storage over 30 days:

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil. Store bar flat.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Store in dry, cool place with spark plug disconnected.

Transport: Always engage chain brake. Use scabbard/bar guard. Secure in vehicle to prevent movement.
