Safety Information

Read all instructions before use. Always wear proper PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Avoid contact with bar tip.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use fuel mix specified.

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause severe injury or death. Never operate with one hand.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar: Place bar over studs, align chain groove with drive sprocket.
  2. Install chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar. Fit chain over sprocket and into bar groove.
  3. Tension chain: Use side-mounted tensioner to achieve proper tension (chain should snap back when pulled from bar).
  4. Fill fluids: Add fuel mix (50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil) to fuel tank. Fill bar & chain oil reservoir.

CAUTION! Chain must be properly tensioned. Loose chain can derail; overtightened chain can damage bar.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, stop switch, choke control, decompression valve (if equipped).

Right Side: Chain brake lever, front handle, muffler. Left Side: Rear handle, fuel cap, oil cap, air filter cover, chain tensioner.

Starting: Set chain brake before starting. Use decompression valve to reduce pulling effort. Operation: Hold rear handle with right hand, front handle with left. Keep thumbs wrapped around handles. Chain brake: Engage manually by pushing forward; activates automatically by inertia if kickback occurs.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Place saw on flat ground. Engage chain brake.

  1. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  2. Set choke lever to full choke position.
  3. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  4. Pull starter cord briskly 2-3 times until engine 'pops'.
  5. Move choke to half-throttle position.
  6. Pull starter cord until engine starts.
  7. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle. Release chain brake.

Warm Start: Do not use choke. Set throttle to half position and pull starter cord.

Operation Guidelines

Basic cutting techniques for felling, limbing, and bucking.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut 1/3 into tree on falling side. Make felling cut opposite notch.
  2. Limbing: Stand on opposite side of tree from limbs. Cut from top of log downward.
  3. Bucking: Support log off ground. Cut from top down for compression side; from bottom up for tension side.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain firm grip. Do not cut with bar tip. Use reduced-kickback chain.

Tip: Let chain do the work; do not force saw. Keep chain sharp for efficient cutting.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily/Before Use: Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check fuel and oil levels.

IntervalTask
Every 10 hoursClean air filter; check spark plug
Every 20 hoursClean cooling fins; check fuel filter
Every 50 hoursReplace spark plug; clean carburetor air intake
Every 100 hoursCheck cylinder bolts; replace fuel filter
SeasonallyClean muffler spark arrestor; inspect anti-vibration elements

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper chain maintenance ensures performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5.5 mm). File at 30° angle. File all cutters evenly.
  2. Depth Gauges: Check and file depth gauges with flat file. Maintain 0.025" (0.65 mm) below cutter top plate.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove weekly. Flip bar monthly for even wear. Dress bar rails if burred.
  4. Lubrication: Ensure oiler is working. Use quality bar & chain oil. Adjust oil flow for conditions.

WARNING! Dull chain increases kickback risk and operator fatigue.

Storage Instructions

Prepare saw for extended storage to prevent fuel system issues.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove spark plug and add 1 teaspoon of 2-stroke oil through spark plug hole. Pull starter cord slowly 2-3 times to coat cylinder.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Loosen chain tension. Store in dry, cool place.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days. Fuel degrades and can damage carburetor.
