Safety Information

Always wear proper PPE: helmet with face shield, hearing protection, chainsaw chaps, gloves, and steel-toe boots.

  1. Pre-operation check: Verify chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication before each use.
  2. Clear work area: Remove debris and ensure secure footing.
  3. Never operate above shoulder height or with one hand.
  4. Maintain secure grip: Keep both hands on handles during operation.

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause serious injury. Always use proper cutting techniques and maintain chain brake functionality.

Assembly & First Use

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Mount guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, position bar on studs, align chain drive links with sprocket.
  2. Install chain: Place chain over bar with cutters facing forward, engage drive links.
  3. Tension chain: Adjust tension screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Fuel mix: Use 50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil ratio (Jonsered recommended oil).
  5. Priming: Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  6. Starting: Set choke, engage chain brake, pull starter cord until engine fires.

CAUTION! Never run engine without proper chain lubrication. Check oil flow before cutting.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front handle with throttle trigger, rear handle with throttle lockout, choke control, primer bulb, chain brake lever, decompression valve, master control lever.

Control Locations: Left side: Chain brake lever, throttle lockout. Right side: Choke control, primer bulb. Top: Decompression valve, spark plug. Rear: Master control lever (combines choke/stop functions).

Operation: Pull choke for cold start, push in for warm start. Engage chain brake by pushing lever forward. Press decompression valve before starting to reduce pulling effort. Master control lever: Up=run, Middle=choke, Down=stop.

Operation Guide

Basic cutting techniques for felling, limbing, and bucking.

  1. Starting procedure: Engage chain brake, set choke, pull starter cord smoothly.
  2. Warm-up: Allow 30-60 seconds at idle before applying load.
  3. Cutting position: Stand to left of saw, feet shoulder-width apart.
  4. Felling notch: Make 70-degree open-face notch 1/3 into tree diameter.
  5. Back cut: Leave 2-3 cm hinge wood, cut level with notch apex.
  6. Limbing: Work from trunk outward, support saw weight with trunk.
  7. Bucking: Support logs above ground, cut from top down.

Tip: Maintain chain speed during cuts; don't force saw. Let chain do the work.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily/Before use: Check chain tension/sharpness, bar condition, lubrication, air filter, fuel/oil levels, nuts/bolts tightness.

Weekly: Clean air filter (replace if damaged), check spark plug, clean cooling fins, inspect anti-vibration elements.

Monthly: Clean fuel filter, check carburetor settings, inspect clutch and sprocket, clean guide bar groove.

Seasonal: Replace fuel filter, check ignition system, inspect all safety features, replace worn parts.

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug before performing maintenance. Use genuine Jonsered parts.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening angle: 30 degrees for standard chain, 10 degrees top plate angle.
  2. File size: Use 4.0 mm round file for .325" pitch chain.
  3. Filing technique: File from inside out, maintain consistent angle and pressure.
  4. Depth gauges: File to 0.65 mm below cutter edge using depth gauge tool.
  5. Tensioning: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar, no sag on bottom.
  6. Adjustment: Loosen bar nuts, turn tension screw clockwise, retighten nuts.

CAUTION! Over-tightening causes excessive wear; loose chain can derail.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Add fuel stabilizer, run for 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Long-term: Drain fuel completely, run until engine stops. Remove chain, clean and oil.
  3. Storage location: Cool, dry place away from ignition sources.
  4. Bar/chain: Clean, oil, and store separately in dry container.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days. Old fuel damages carburetor.
