Safety Information

Read all instructions before use. Wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps/pants, and sturdy boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children and pets. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip. Be aware of kickback zone.
  4. Battery Safety: Use only John Deere 60V batteries and charger. Keep away from heat and moisture.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Always engage chain brake when not cutting.

Assembly & Initial Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach the Bar and Chain: Place bar onto mounting studs. Loop chain over sprocket and onto bar guide, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Oil Tank: Use high-quality bar and chain oil. Fill to MAX line. Check for leaks.
  3. Install Battery: Insert fully charged 60V battery until it clicks. Ensure it is secure.
  4. Initial Test: Engage chain brake. Press safety trigger and throttle to test motor (no cut).

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is engaged during assembly. Keep hands away from chain.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front Handle with safety trigger and throttle lockout. Rear Handle with main trigger. Chain Brake lever. Battery Release button. Oil Cap. Tensioning Knob.

Operation Indicators: Battery charge indicator on battery. No separate power light on saw.

Safety Features: Chain brake (manual/inertia), safety trigger lockout, low-kickback chain, hand guard.

Operation

Starting and Basic Cutting Techniques.

  1. Pre-Operation Check: Ensure chain is sharp, tension is correct, oil tank is full, battery is charged, and chain brake is disengaged.
  2. Starting: Press and hold safety trigger lockout, then squeeze main trigger. Saw will start immediately.
  3. Making a Cut: Apply light pressure; let the chain do the work. Do not force. Be aware of pinch points.
  4. Stopping: Release trigger. Engage chain brake when moving between cuts or not in use.
  5. Kickback Reaction: If kickback occurs, the inertia-activated chain brake should engage. Grip handles firmly.

Tip: Plan your cut and escape path. Never cut above shoulder height.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Chain Sharpening: Use a round file and guide. Maintain correct filing angle (typically 30°). Sharpen when wood dust is fine instead of chips.
  2. Chain Tensioning: Adjust via tensioning knob when saw is cool and chain brake is engaged. Chain should snap back when pulled from bar.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar periodically for even wear.
  4. Oiling System: Check oil flow before each use. Adjust oiler screw if necessary. Clean oil ports.

WARNING! Always wear heavy gloves when handling the chain. Ensure saw is off and battery is removed.

Battery Care & Charging

Use only John Deere 60V charger (model CH60V).

  1. Charging: Insert battery into charger. LED indicates status (red=charging, green=full).
  2. Storage: Store battery at room temperature. For long-term storage (>30 days), charge to 50-70%.
  3. Runtime: Varies by battery Ah rating, wood type, and cutting intensity. A 5.0Ah battery typically provides 45-90 minutes of runtime.
  4. Battery Indicators: Press button on battery to check charge level (LEDs).

CAUTION! Do not charge damaged batteries. Do not expose battery to fire or water.

Storage

Clean saw thoroughly before storage. Empty oil tank or use biodegradable oil to prevent gumming. Remove battery. Store in a dry, locked place out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Store chain saw with chain brake engaged. Hang by rear handle or lay flat.
