Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw chaps, safety helmet with face shield and hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Zone: Be aware of the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip where kickback occurs. Never cut with this part of the bar.
  4. Chain Brake: Test function before each use by pulling the front hand guard toward the bar.
  5. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use fuel mix 50:1 (Husqvarna XP+ oil with 90+ octane gasoline).

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. This saw is for trained professionals only.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar: Remove bar cover nuts, position bar over studs, align chain drive links with sprocket.
  2. Install chain: Place chain over bar with cutting teeth facing forward on top. Ensure proper direction.
  3. Tension chain: Use side tensioner to adjust until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten bar nuts.
  4. Fill tanks: Add fuel mix to fuel tank and bar/chain oil to oil tank. Use recommended oils only.
  5. Check controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function properly.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Chain is extremely sharp.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before operation.

Right Side: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, front hand guard/chain brake, choke/stop control, decompression valve, starter handle.

Left Side: Chain tensioner, oil filler cap, fuel filler cap, rear handle with vibration dampeners.

Top: Spark plug cover, air filter cover, ON/OFF switch.

Functions: Chain brake stops chain rotation during kickback. Throttle lockout prevents accidental throttle engagement. Decompression valve reduces starting effort. Combined choke/stop control simplifies starting sequence.

Starting & Stopping

Follow proper starting procedure to avoid injury.

  1. Cold Start: Place saw on firm ground. Activate chain brake. Set choke control to full choke. Press decompression valve. Pull starter rope until engine fires. Move choke to half-throttle position. Pull starter rope to start. Blip throttle to return to idle.
  2. Warm Start: Set choke to half-throttle or run position. Pull starter rope.
  3. Stopping: Release throttle and allow engine to idle. Move ON/OFF switch to STOP position.

WARNING! Always engage chain brake when starting. Keep hands away from chain.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Basic Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward. Hold saw firmly with both hands.
  2. Starting Cut: Apply light throttle, let chain reach full speed before contacting wood.
  3. Bucking: Cut from top of log. Support log properly. Beware of binding.
  4. Limbing: Work from trunk outward. Keep saw close to body for control.
  5. Pruning: Use guide bar's bumper spike as pivot point. Make relief cuts for larger branches.
  6. Kickback Prevention: Maintain firm grip, don't overreach, never cut with bar tip.

Tip: Let the chain do the work; don't force the saw through the cut.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
DailyClean air filter, check chain tension, sharpen chain, clean saw exterior
WeeklyClean spark arrestor screen, check spark plug, clean cooling fins
MonthlyCheck fuel filter, replace air filter if needed, check all nuts and bolts
SeasonallyReplace spark plug, clean carburetor air intake, check anti-vibration elements
AnnuallyProfessional servicing, check compression, replace fuel lines if cracked

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance ensures cutting efficiency and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 4.0mm). Maintain 30° cutting angle. File all cutters to equal length. Check depth gauges with gauge tool.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely. Adjust when chain is warm. Loosen bar nuts, turn tensioner screw clockwise until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Retighten bar nuts.
  3. Lubrication: Ensure oil tank is filled with proper bar/chain oil. Adjust oil flow rate if needed (screw near oil tank).

WARNING! Always wear cut-resistant gloves when handling chain.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Empty fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Clean entire saw thoroughly.
  4. Remove chain, clean and oil it, store separately.
  5. Store in dry, cool place away from ignition sources.
  6. Cover saw to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
