Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective pants, safety helmet with visor and hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and animals at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip.
  4. Chain Brake: Test function before each use. Engage when carrying the saw more than a few steps.
  5. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only, with engine stopped and cool. Use clean, fresh fuel mix.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Improper use can cause serious injury or death. Never operate when fatigued or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Loop chain over sprocket and onto bar groove, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top. Install clutch cover and tighten nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Lift bar tip, then use side tensioner screw to adjust until chain fits snugly against bar. Tighten clutch cover nuts securely. Chain should pull freely by hand.
  3. Fill Fuel & Oil: Use Husqvarna 2-stroke oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio) for fuel tank. Fill bar & chain oil reservoir with specified chain oil.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function correctly.

CAUTION! Always wear protective gloves when handling the chain. The chain is extremely sharp.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Right Side: Throttle trigger, Throttle lockout, Front handle, Chain brake lever (front hand guard), Combined choke/stop control, Fuel cap, Oil cap.

Left Side: Rear handle, Chain tensioner screw, Clutch cover nuts, Air filter cover, Starter handle, Decompression valve (if equipped).

Chain Brake: Engages automatically (inertia) or manually by pushing front hand guard forward.

Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle trigger can be engaged.

Starting & Stopping

Place saw on firm, flat ground. Ensure chain is clear of obstructions.

  1. Cold Start: Engage chain brake. Set combined control to choke position (full up). Press decompression valve if equipped. Pull starter cord sharply until engine fires (1-2 pulls). Move control to half-throttle position. Pull starter cord again until engine starts. Blip throttle to disengage start setting.
  2. Warm Start: Set combined control to half-throttle position. Pull starter cord.
  3. Stopping: Release throttle and allow engine to idle. Push combined control down to the STOP position.

WARNING! Never drop-start the saw. Always engage the chain brake when starting.

Operation Guidelines

Use correct cutting techniques to maintain control and reduce fatigue.

  1. Basic Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward. Hold saw firmly with both hands.
  2. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of the kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip). Do not let this part contact wood.
  3. Bucking & Limbing: Let the chain do the work. Use full throttle during the cut. Plan cuts to avoid pinching the bar.
  4. One-Handed Use (Arborist): Only for trained professionals secured in a tree. Maintain three points of contact. Be extra mindful of kickback.
  5. Chain Lubrication: Check oil flow by running saw at full throttle near a light-colored surface; a line of oil should appear.

Tip: Sharpen the chain regularly. A sharp chain requires less force, is safer, and reduces wear.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily / Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls, nuts, and bolts. Clean air filter. Inspect for damage.
Weekly / 10 HoursClean cooling fins. Check spark plug condition. Clean fuel filter in tank.
Monthly / 50 HoursReplace spark plug. Clean carburetor air filter. Check fuel line for cracks.
Seasonally / 100 HoursReplace air filter. Clean cylinder exhaust port. Check clutch and sprocket wear.

CAUTION! All maintenance should be performed with the engine off, spark plug wire disconnected, and the chain brake engaged.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper care extends life and ensures safe operation.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 4.0mm). Maintain original filing angles (30°). File all cutters to equal length. File depth gauges (rakers) with a flat file and gauge.
  2. Cleaning Bar Groove: Remove bar and clean groove with a narrow screwdriver. Rotate bar regularly for even wear.
  3. Checking for Wear: Look for hooked or burred rails on the bar. Replace if worn unevenly or if groove is significantly widened.
  4. Chain Replacement: Replace chain when cutters are shortened from repeated sharpening, or if damaged.

Storage

Prepare saw for storage if not used for more than 30 days.

  1. Empty the fuel tank in a well-ventilated area and run the engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove, clean, and re-oil the air filter.
  3. Remove chain and bar, clean thoroughly, and coat with oil.
  4. Store in a dry, clean, and secure place, out of reach of children.

WARNING! Never store the saw with fuel in the tank for long periods. Old fuel can damage engine components.
