Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear protective gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety helmet, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, chainsaw protective trousers, and safety boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with the tip of the bar.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, with engine off and cool. Wipe off spills.
  5. Transport & Storage: Engage chain brake. Use scabbard. Store fuel in approved container.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. The chain brake does not prevent kickback.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on studs. Fit chain over sprocket and onto bar groove. Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar.
  2. Install Bar Nut & Cover: Fit clutch cover over bar studs. Hand-tighten nuts, then tighten with tool.
  3. Tension Chain: Use side-mounted tensioner to adjust until chain fits snugly against bar (lift slightly in middle). Retighten bar nuts.
  4. Add Fuel & Oil: Use fresh, high-quality 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio). Fill chain oil tank with special chain oil.

CAUTION! Chain must be properly tensioned. A loose chain can derail; an overtightened chain can damage the saw.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting.

Main Controls: On/Off switch (I/O), Combined choke/stop control, Throttle trigger, Throttle trigger lockout, Chain brake lever/hand guard, Decompression valve (if equipped), Primer bulb (if equipped).

Components: Front handle, Rear handle, Fuel tank cap, Oil tank cap, Spark plug cover, Air filter cover, Muffler, Guide bar, Chain, Chain catcher, Sprocket cover.

Operation: The throttle trigger lockout must be pressed before the throttle trigger can be engaged. The chain brake is engaged by pushing the hand guard forward.

Starting & Stopping

Ensure saw is on flat, clear ground. Engage chain brake before starting.

  1. Cold Start: Engage chain brake. Set On/Off switch to (I). Pull choke control out to full choke. Press decompression valve (if equipped). Place saw on ground, hold rear handle with right foot, grip front handle with left hand. Pull starter handle sharply until engine fires. Push choke control in to half-throttle position. Pull starter handle again until engine starts. Blip throttle to disengage start setting.
  2. Warm Start: Follow cold start but do not use choke. Use half-throttle position if needed.
  3. Stopping: Release throttle. Set On/Off switch to (O).

Tip: Never drop-start the chainsaw. Always start it on the ground.

Operation & Cutting Techniques

Always hold saw with both hands. Maintain a firm grip.

  1. Basic Stance: Stand with feet apart for balance. Keep left arm straight, right arm slightly bent.
  2. Kickback Zone: Avoid cutting with the upper quadrant of the bar tip.
  3. Felling a Tree: Plan escape path. Make notch cut (1/3 of tree diameter). Make felling cut from opposite side, leaving hinge wood.
  4. Limbing: Cut branches from bottom to top. Use the saw's weight; don't force it.
  5. Bucking (Cross-cutting): Support log properly. Cut from top. For pinched bar, stop and use wedge.

WARNING! Be alert for kickback. Never cut above shoulder height. Watch for falling branches.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check for loose parts. Inspect guide bar.
DailyClean air filter. Check fuel and oil lines for leaks.
WeeklyClean cooling fins. Clean spark plug. Check spark arrestor screen in muffler.
MonthlyClean fuel filter in tank. Check clutch and sprocket for wear.
SeasonallyReplace spark plug. Clean carburetor air intake. Check all screws and bolts.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

A sharp, properly tensioned chain is essential for safe and efficient cutting.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 4.0 mm / 5/32"). File each cutter from inside out at 30° angle. Maintain equal length on all cutters. File depth gauges with a flat file and gauge.
  2. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Turn tensioning screw clockwise until chain is snug against bar (can be lifted slightly in middle). Hold bar tip up and retighten bar nuts firmly.
  3. Lubrication: Ensure oil port on bar is clear. Chain should throw oil during operation.

CAUTION! Wear gloves when handling chain. A dull chain increases risk of kickback.

Storage Guidelines

Prepare saw for storage if not used for more than 30 days.

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove chain and guide bar. Clean and oil them. Store bar flat.
  3. Clean entire saw. Check for wear.
  4. Store in a dry, cool place, out of reach of children.
  5. For long-term storage, remove spark plug and pour a teaspoon of engine oil into cylinder. Pull starter cord slowly to distribute oil, then refit plug.

CAUTION! Never store saw with fuel in the tank for extended periods. Fuel can deteriorate and damage engine components.
