Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety helmet, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, away from ignition sources. Use fresh fuel mix.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on studs, loop chain around bar with cutting teeth facing forward on top. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use fresh gasoline (min 89 octane) mixed with 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (Husqvarna HP or equivalent).
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use environmentally adapted chain oil (or SAE 30 in a pinch).
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function correctly.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pushed forward) before starting. Check chain tension when cold.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front Handle, Rear Handle, Throttle Trigger, Throttle Lockout, Chain Brake Lever, Stop Switch, Choke Control, Decompression Valve, Fuel Cap, Oil Cap, Air Filter Cover, Spark Plug.

Controls: Throttle Trigger (controls engine speed), Throttle Lockout (must be pressed to engage throttle), Chain Brake (manual activation via left hand guard; inertia activation), Stop Switch (OFF/RUN), Combined Choke/Stop Control (Cold Start Position), Decompression Valve (reduces cylinder pressure for easier starting).

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start:

  1. Place saw on flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set choke control to full choke position.
  4. Press throttle lockout and pull throttle trigger. Hold while pulling starter cord 3-4 times until engine 'pops'.
  5. Move choke control to half-throttle position. Pull starter cord until engine starts.
  6. Blip throttle to disengage start setting. Disengage chain brake.

Warm Start: Use half-throttle position, no choke.

Stopping: Release throttle, press stop switch to OFF.

Operating Instructions

Always use a firm grip. Let the saw do the work.

  1. Basic Cutting: Hold saw firmly. Use full throttle just before and during cut.
  2. Felling Trees: Plan escape path. Use proper notch and back cut techniques.
  3. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk. Beware of springback.
  4. Bucking: Support log properly. Avoid cutting into ground.
  5. Kickback Prevention: Maintain secure grip. Do not cut with bar tip.

Tip: Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned. Check oiler output regularly.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
DailyClean air filter, check chain tension, sharpen chain, check oiler output, general inspection
WeeklyClean cooling fins, check spark plug, clean fuel filter, check all nuts/bolts
MonthlyClean carburetor air intake, check fuel line, check anti-vibration elements
AnnuallyProfessional service check, cylinder/piston inspection (if heavily used)

Use only genuine Husqvarna spare parts.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5.5mm / 7/32" for 3/8" chain). Maintain 30° filing angle. File all cutters to equal length. Check depth gauges with gauge tool.

Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Adjust with side-mounted tensioner when saw is cold. Re-tighten after first few minutes of operation.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure saw is off and cool.

Storage Guidelines

For storage over 30 days:

  1. Empty fuel tank and run carburetor dry.
  2. Empty oil tank.
  3. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil. Clean guide bar groove.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  5. Store in dry, cool place, protected from dust.

WARNING! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel can deteriorate and damage carburetor.
