Safety Instructions

Read and understand all safety warnings before operation.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety helmet, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, and chainsaw protective pants.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only when engine is cool. Use fuel/oil mixture as specified.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone; never cut with tip of guide bar.
  5. Chain Brake: Test chain brake before each use.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar: Place bar on mounting studs, align chain around sprocket and bar groove.
  2. Install chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar.
  3. Tension chain: Adjust with side-mounted tensioner until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Add fuel: Mix Husqvarna 2-stroke oil with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio).
  5. Add bar & chain oil: Fill reservoir with specified chain oil.

CAUTION! Wear protective gloves when handling chain. Ensure chain is properly tensioned before starting.

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, spark plug, cylinder cover, chain tensioner, muffler.

Starting & Stopping

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place chainsaw on flat ground, clear of obstacles.
  2. Activate chain brake by pushing forward.
  3. Set combined control to choke position.
  4. Press primer bulb 6-10 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter handle until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  6. Move combined control to half-throttle position.
  7. Pull starter handle until engine starts.
  8. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
  9. Release chain brake before cutting.

Stopping: Release throttle, press stop switch to OFF position.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques for safe and efficient operation.

  1. Basic Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  2. Grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand.
  3. Starting Cut: Apply light pressure, let chain do the work.
  4. Bucking: Support log properly; cut from top down.
  5. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk; cut downward branches first.
  6. Kickback Prevention: Never cut with upper quadrant of bar tip.
  7. Pinched Bar: If bar gets pinched, stop engine and use wedge to free it.

Tip: Maintain steady throttle; avoid "pumping" the trigger.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalMaintenance Task
DailyCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication
DailyClean air filter (more often in dusty conditions)
WeeklyClean cooling fins and spark arrestor screen
MonthlyCheck spark plug condition and gap
SeasonallyReplace fuel filter and inspect fuel lines
50 hoursClean carburetor air intake
100 hoursReplace spark plug

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Chain Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts, adjust tensioner until chain snaps back when pulled from bar, retighten bar nuts.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5/32 inch).
  3. Filing Angle: Maintain 30-degree angle on cutters.
  4. Depth Gauges: File down to maintain 0.025 inch below cutter height.
  5. Equal Teeth: Sharpen all teeth to same length for straight cutting.

CAUTION! Wear protective gloves when handling chain. Ensure proper tension after sharpening.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Fill fuel tank to prevent condensation.
  2. Long-term: Drain fuel completely or add fuel stabilizer.
  3. Run engine dry: After adding stabilizer, run engine for 5 minutes.
  4. Clean thoroughly: Remove sawdust, dirt, and resin.
  5. Remove chain: Clean and oil chain, store separately.
  6. Storage location: Cool, dry place away from ignition sources.

WARNING! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank for extended periods without stabilizer.
