Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear proper PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw chaps or pants, safety helmet with face shield and hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure secure footing. Do not operate in poor weather or visibility.
  3. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip. Use reduced-kickback chain and maintain proper chain tension.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine stopped and cool. Use clean, fresh fuel mix (gasoline and 2-stroke oil).

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Kickback can occur without warning.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar pad on saw. Fit chain over sprocket and onto bar rails. Align bar with mounting studs and install bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Use side-mounted tensioner to adjust chain until snug against bar bottom. Tighten bar nuts securely. Check tension again.
  3. Fill Fuel & Oil: Use correct fuel mix (50:1 Husqvarna 2-stroke oil or equivalent). Fill chain oil tank with quality bar & chain oil.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function properly.

CAUTION! Chain must be properly tensioned. A loose chain can derail; an overtightened chain can damage the engine.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Front Handle: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke/stop control. Rear Handle: Master control lever, starter handle, rear hand guard.

Main Controls: Master Control Lever (combines choke, stop, and run positions), Chain Brake (manual activation lever, inertia-activated), Throttle Lockout (must be depressed to engage throttle), Chain Tensioner (side-mounted knob), Decompression Valve (reduces starting effort).

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, Spark plug, Cylinder cover, Chain oil filler cap, Fuel filler cap.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start:

  1. Place saw on flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set Master Control Lever to choke position.
  4. Press primer bulb 4-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter cord until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  6. Move Master Control Lever to run position.
  7. Pull starter cord to start. Let idle for 10-15 seconds.
  8. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Warm Start: Master Control Lever in run position. No choke or primer needed.

Stopping: Release throttle. Move Master Control Lever to stop position.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path (45° behind fall). Make notch cut (1/3 tree diameter). Make felling cut (2" above notch hinge). Use wedges if needed.
  2. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk. Cut limbs on opposite side first. Use guide bar's lower quadrant.
  3. Bucking: Support log properly. Cut from top down. For pinched bar, stop engine and use wedge.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain firm grip. Do not cut with bar tip. Keep chain sharp and tensioned.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height or with one hand. Always use both hands.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily (Before Use)Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls and fasteners. Clean air filter.
WeeklyClean cooling fins. Check spark plug condition. Clean fuel filter.
MonthlyClean chain brake mechanism. Check anti-vibration elements. Clean carburetor air intake.
Every 3 MonthsReplace spark plug. Clean muffler spark arrestor screen. Check fuel lines.
AnnuallyProfessional servicing recommended. Check cylinder and piston.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 5/32" or 3/16"). Maintain 30° cutting angle. File all cutters to equal length. Check depth gauges with gauge tool.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar bottom but pull freely. Adjust when chain is cold. Re-tension after first few minutes of operation.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Flip bar regularly for even wear. Clean bar groove and oil holes. File down burrs on bar rails.

CAUTION! Always wear heavy gloves when handling chain. A dull chain increases kickback risk.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Empty fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer and run for 2 minutes.
  2. Run chain oil tank dry to prevent leaks.
  3. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil. Clean guide bar.
  4. Clean entire saw. Store in dry, protected area.
  5. For long-term storage, remove spark plug and add teaspoon of oil to cylinder. Pull starter cord slowly to distribute oil.

WARNING! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
