Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of obstacles and bystanders. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Avoid contact with bar tip.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use correct fuel/oil mix.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Improper use can cause serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under influence.

Assembly & First Use

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, position bar on studs, ensure proper alignment.
  2. Install chain: Place chain on bar with cutting edges facing forward. Adjust tension.
  3. Fill fluids: Mix fuel (50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil). Fill fuel and chain oil tanks.
  4. Start engine: Place on ground, engage chain brake, set choke, pull starter cord.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is engaged before starting. Keep hands away from cutting area.

Technical Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on top and rear handle. Front Panel: Throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, stop switch.

Right Side: Chain brake handle, front hand guard, chain tensioning screw. Left Side: Decompression valve (if equipped), fuel and oil caps.

Operation: Start/stop switch, choke control, primer bulb, throttle lockout (must be pressed to engage throttle). Maintenance: Air filter cover, spark plug cover, chain tension adjustment.

Operation Instructions

Starting, cutting techniques, and shutdown procedures.

  1. Cold Start: Engage chain brake. Set choke to full. Press decompression valve (if equipped). Pull starter cord until engine fires. Move choke to half position. Pull again to start.
  2. Warm Start: Choke off. Follow same procedure without choke.
  3. Cutting: Use full throttle when cutting. Let chain do the work. Do not force saw.
  4. Shutdown: Release throttle, allow idle for 30 seconds, press stop switch.

Tip: Maintain proper chain tension. A loose chain can derail; too tight causes excessive wear.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Clean air filter, check chain tension and sharpness, inspect guide bar for wear.
  2. Weekly: Clean cooling fins, check spark plug, clean fuel filter.
  3. Monthly: Check all nuts and bolts for tightness, clean chain brake mechanism.
  4. Seasonal: Replace spark plug, clean carburetor (if needed), inspect anti-vibration elements.

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance. Use only Husqvarna approved parts.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for safe operation.

Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5.5mm). Maintain 30° filing angle. File all cutters to equal length. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten bar nuts while lifting bar tip.

Storage Guidelines

Prepare chainsaw for extended storage.

  1. Empty fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially air intake and cooling fins.
  4. Remove chain, clean and oil it. Store separately.
  5. Store in dry, cool place away from children.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
