Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety helmet, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, chainsaw protection trousers, and boots with steel toe caps.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar nose). Use reduced kickback chain and chain brake.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, away from sparks or flames. Use clean fuel container.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Improper use can cause serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Mount guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, fit bar onto studs, ensure tensioning pin engages in bar hole.
  2. Fit saw chain: Place chain over bar with cutting teeth facing forward on top. Ensure drive links engage in bar groove.
  3. Tension chain: Lift bar tip, tighten bar nuts finger-tight. Adjust tension with screwdriver until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten bar nuts securely.
  4. Fill fluids: Use Husqvarna 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio). Fill chain oil tank with Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is correctly installed and tensioned before starting. Loose chain can derail.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Front Handle: Includes front hand guard and chain brake. Rear Handle: Contains throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, stop switch, and choke/stop control.

Key Controls: Throttle Trigger (controls engine speed), Throttle Trigger Lockout (must be pressed to activate throttle), Stop Switch (stops engine), Choke/Stop Control (choke for cold start, stop position for stopping), Chain Brake Handle (manual activation, inertia-activated), Chain Tensioning Screw (adjusts chain tension).

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, spark plug, fuel cap, oil cap, chain catcher, muffler.

Starting & Stopping

Starting (Cold Engine):

  1. Place chainsaw on flat ground, clear of obstacles.
  2. Activate chain brake by pushing front hand guard forward.
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Set choke/stop control to choke position.
  5. Press throttle trigger lockout and throttle trigger, then release.
  6. Pull starter handle until engine fires.
  7. Move choke/stop control to half-throttle position.
  8. Pull starter handle again until engine starts.
  9. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
  10. Release chain brake by pulling hand guard toward you.

Starting (Warm Engine): Skip choke; set control to run position.

Stopping: Release throttle, let engine idle, move stop switch to stop position.

Basic Operation

Always hold chainsaw with both hands: right on rear handle, left on front handle.

  1. Starting Cut: Apply light pressure, let chain do the work.
  2. Felling Trees: Not recommended for inexperienced users. Use proper techniques.
  3. Limbing: Cut branches from felled tree. Watch for springback.
  4. Bucking: Cut logs into lengths. Support log properly.
  5. Kickback Prevention: Do not cut with bar nose. Maintain secure grip.

Tip: Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned for efficient cutting.

Maintenance

Perform daily maintenance before use. Disconnect spark plug wire first.

  1. Chain Tension: Check and adjust when chain is cold.
  2. Chain Sharpness: Sharpen when needed (see section 9).
  3. Air Filter: Clean weekly; replace if damaged. Remove cover, tap filter clean, wash in warm soapy water if very dirty.
  4. Spark Plug: Check electrode gap (0.020" / 0.5 mm). Clean or replace if worn.
  5. Fuel Filter: Replace annually or if clogged.
  6. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove, rotate bar regularly for even wear.
  7. Chain Oil: Check oil flow by running saw over light surface; adjust oiler screw if needed.

WARNING! Always stop engine and ensure chain is stopped before maintenance.

Chain Sharpening

Use round file (5/32" / 4.0 mm) and file guide. Maintain 30° cutting angle and 10° top plate angle.

  1. Secure bar in vise.
  2. Place file guide on chain.
  3. File from inside out with steady strokes. File all cutters on one side first, then other side.
  4. File depth gauges with flat file and depth gauge tool to maintain proper height (0.025" / 0.65 mm).

CAUTION! Wear gloves. Keep file level. Equal strokes for all cutters.

Storage

For storage over 30 days:

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
  2. Empty chain oil tank.
  3. Clean entire chainsaw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Remove chain, clean in solvent, oil lightly, store in sealed bag.
  5. Store in dry, cool place, out of reach of children.

Tip: Use fuel stabilizer if storing with fuel.
