Safety Precautions

Always wear protective equipment: helmet, goggles, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.

  1. Work Area Safety: Clear work area of obstacles; ensure secure footing.
  2. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, engine off and cool. Use fuel mix 50:1 (Husqvarna XP+ oil).
  3. Chain Brake: Test before each use by pulling hand guard forward.
  4. Kickback: Avoid contact with bar nose; maintain secure grip.
  5. Maintenance: Disconnect spark plug before repairs.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Improper use can cause serious injury or death. Read manual thoroughly before operation.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily/Before Use: Check chain tension, sharpness, brake function, fuel/oil levels, air filter, screws/tightness. Weekly: Clean air filter, check spark plug, clean cooling fins, inspect bar/chain wear. Monthly: Clean fuel filter, check carburetor settings, inspect vibration dampeners, check clutch/drum.

Engine Repair

Cylinder & Piston: Remove muffler, inspect cylinder scoring; replace piston/rings if compression below 120 psi. Crankshaft Seals: Check for leaks with pressure test (7 psi). Crankcase: Pressure/vacuum test; reseal if leaks found.

  1. Remove top cover, air filter, carburetor, ignition module.
  2. Remove cylinder bolts; lift cylinder; inspect piston.
  3. Replace piston rings with ring ends positioned over piston pin.
  4. Reassemble with new gaskets; torque cylinder bolts to 10 Nm (7.4 ft-lb).

CAUTION! Label all parts during disassembly. Use genuine Husqvarna gaskets.

Fuel System

Components: Fuel tank, filter, lines, carburetor (Zama C1Q-S267).

  1. Fuel Filter: Replace by pulling from tank with wire hook.
  2. Fuel Lines: Inspect for cracks; replace if hardened or leaking.
  3. Carburetor Removal: Disconnect throttle linkage, fuel line, impulse line.
  4. Diaphragms: Check for stiffness/holes; replace kit if needed.

Tip: Always use fresh fuel mix; stale fuel causes starting/running issues.

Ignition System

SEM electronic ignition; air gap 0.3 mm (0.012").

  1. Spark Test: Remove plug, ground to cylinder, pull starter; look for strong blue spark.
  2. No Spark: Check kill switch wire for short to ground; check module resistance (primary 0.5-1.5 Ω, secondary 5-15 kΩ).
  3. Module Replacement: Remove flywheel (puller tool), unplug module, install new with 0.3 mm air gap.
  4. Flywheel Key: Check for shear; replace if damaged.

WARNING! Never run saw without spark arrestor screen in muffler.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Chain Tension: Correct when snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Sharpening: File at 30° angle, depth gauges 0.025" below cutters. Bar Care: Clean groove weekly; flip bar monthly for even wear.

  1. Loosen bar nuts, adjust tensioning screw.
  2. Tighten bar nuts, recheck tension.
  3. File cutters with round file (size per chain).
  4. File depth gauges with flat file and gauge tool.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Keep chain sharp for safe operation.

Carburetor Adjustment

Factory settings: L=1 turn out, H=1 turn out, T=1 turn out. Fine-tune at operating temperature.

  1. Start saw, warm up 5 minutes.
  2. Adjust idle (T) so chain just stops moving.
  3. Adjust L for smooth acceleration from idle.
  4. Adjust H for maximum RPM (12,500-13,500 rpm) then rich 1/8 turn.
  5. Recheck idle after H adjustment.

Note: Use tachometer for H screw; exceeding 13,500 rpm risks engine damage.
