Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective trousers, safety boots, gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar nose). Never cut with this part of the bar.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in a well-ventilated area with engine stopped and cool. Use clean, fresh fuel mix.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. The chain brake is a safety device but does not eliminate the risk of kickback.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on bar studs, fit chain around sprocket and bar, adjust tension using side-mounted tensioner.
  2. Fill with fuel: Use Husqvarna 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio). Do not use automotive oil.
  3. Fill chain oil tank: Use Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent bio-oil.
  4. Check chain brake: Ensure it moves freely and engages properly.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is correctly installed with cutting teeth facing forward on top of bar. Incorrect installation can cause immediate kickback.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front handle with throttle trigger and throttle lockout, rear handle, chain brake handle, combined choke/stop control, primer bulb, fuel cap, oil cap, and decompression valve.

Controls: Throttle trigger (controls engine speed), Throttle lockout (must be pressed to activate throttle), Chain brake handle (manual activation), Stop switch (stops engine), Choke control (for cold starts), Decompression valve (reduces compression for easier starting).

Maintenance Points: Air filter, Spark plug, Chain tensioner, Chain catcher, Sprocket, Muffler.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start:

  1. Place chainsaw on flat ground, clear of obstacles.
  2. Activate chain brake by pushing forward.
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Set choke control to full choke position.
  5. Press primer bulb 4-6 times until fuel is visible.
  6. Hold rear handle with right foot, pull starter handle until engine fires.
  7. Move choke to half-throttle position, pull starter handle until engine starts.
  8. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
  9. Release chain brake before cutting.

Warm Start: Use half-choke or no choke position.

Stopping: Release throttle, press stop switch.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Basic Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  2. Grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand. Thumbs wrapped around handles.
  3. Starting Cut: Apply light pressure, let chain do the work. Do not force the saw.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain secure grip, be aware of bar nose contact, use reduced kickback chain.
  5. Felling Trees: Notch cut first (1/3 of tree diameter), then felling cut. Use wedges for trees larger than bar length.
  6. Limbing: Work from trunk outward, support limb when possible.
  7. Buckling: Support log properly, cut from top down, be aware of tension and compression wood.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height or with one hand. Always plan escape path when felling.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
DailyCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication; Clean air filter; Check all nuts and bolts
WeeklyClean cooling fins; Check spark plug; Clean fuel filter
MonthlyClean carburetor air intake; Check fuel lines; Clean chain brake mechanism
Every 3 MonthsReplace spark plug; Clean muffler; Check anti-vibration elements
YearlyProfessional inspection of cylinder, piston, crankshaft bearings

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance. Use only Husqvarna genuine parts.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper chain maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 4.0mm). Maintain correct filing angle (typically 30°). File all cutters to equal length.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely. Re-tension when warm. Adjust using side-mounted tensioner.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Regularly clean bar groove, flip bar monthly for even wear, file down burrs on bar rails.
  4. Lubrication: Always use chain oil. Check oil flow by pointing bar at light surface and running at full throttle—oil should appear as line.

Tip: A sharp chain requires less force, reduces operator fatigue, and decreases kickback risk.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
  2. Empty chain oil tank.
  3. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil. Clean bar groove.
  4. Clean entire chainsaw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  5. Store in dry place, protected from dust and moisture.
  6. For long-term storage (over 30 days), remove spark plug and add teaspoon of engine oil to cylinder, pull starter cord slowly to distribute.

CAUTION! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank for extended periods. Modern ethanol-blended fuels can damage fuel system components.
