Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Failure to follow safety rules may result in serious injury or death.

HazardPrecaution
KickbackAlways hold saw firmly with both hands; use reduced-kickback chain; do not cut with tip.
Chain BrakeTest before each use; ensure inertia-activated brake functions properly.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Always wear: helmet with face shield/ear protection, chainsaw chaps, gloves, steel-toe boots.
Fuel HandlingRefuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool; use fuel/oil mix as specified.
Working AreaKeep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away; be aware of falling branches.
Electrical HazardsDo not operate near power lines; assume all wires are energized.
FatigueTake frequent breaks; chainsaw operation is demanding.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack all components and inspect for damage.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Fit chain over sprocket and onto bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use fresh, high-quality gasoline (min 89 octane) mixed with Husqvarna 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (2%). Shake well.
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent. Check oiler function.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, stop switch, and chain brake operate smoothly.

WARNING! Never use automotive oil or straight gasoline. Improper fuel will damage engine.

Controls & Components

Key components and their functions.

ComponentFunction
Front Hand Guard / Chain BrakeActivates brake if kickback occurs or manually engaged.
Throttle TriggerControls engine speed. Release to idle.
Throttle LockoutMust be depressed to engage throttle; prevents accidental acceleration.
Stop SwitchStops engine when moved to STOP (0) position.
Choke ControlUsed for cold starting (closed position).
Purge Bulb (if equipped)Pumps fuel to carburetor for easier starting.
Combination Wrench / ScrenchTool for bar nuts and chain tensioning.
Chain TensionerAdjusts chain tension via side screw.
Chain CatcherDesigned to catch chain if it breaks.
Right Hand GuardProtects hand from rear kickback.

Starting & Stopping

Starting (Cold Engine):

  1. Place saw on firm, flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Activate choke (full choke position).
  3. Press purge bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible (if equipped).
  4. Hold saw firmly with left hand on front handle, right foot in rear handle. Pull starter cord sharply until engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls).
  5. Deactivate choke (move to half-throttle or run position).
  6. Pull starter cord again until engine starts. Allow to warm up at idle for 30 seconds.
  7. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Starting (Warm Engine): Do not use choke. Follow steps 1, 4, 6, and 7.

Stopping: Release throttle, allow engine to idle briefly. Move stop switch to STOP (0).

EMERGENCY STOP: Immediately release throttle and engage chain brake.

Operation & Cutting Techniques

Always maintain secure footing and grip.

CAUTION! Never operate chainsaw with one hand. Always be aware of the chain's position.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily / Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls, nuts, bolts. Inspect for damage. Clean air filter if dirty.
Every 10 HoursClean spark plug. Check fuel filter. Clean exterior of saw.
Every 20 HoursReplace air filter. Check spark arrestor screen in muffler (clean if clogged).
Every 50 HoursReplace fuel filter. Check clutch and sprocket for wear.
Seasonally / As NeededReplace guide bar (rotate periodically). Replace drive sprocket. Have carburetor adjusted by authorized dealer.

Use only genuine Husqvarna replacement parts.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

  1. Chain Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 5/32" or 3/16"). Maintain 30° filing angle. File all cutters to equal length. File depth gauges (rakers) with flat file and gauge.
  2. Chain Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Adjust when cold. Re-tension after first few minutes of operation (hot chain expands).
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar weekly to ensure even wear. Dress bar rails with flat file if burred.
  4. Lubrication: Always check oil level. Ensure oil hole in bar is clear. Adjust oil flow rate if adjustable.

WARNING! A dull or loose chain increases risk of kickback and operator fatigue.
