Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operation.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw chaps, helmet with face shield, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, ensure secure footing, and be aware of kickback zone.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, away from ignition sources, with engine stopped and cool.
  4. Transport: Engage chain brake and fit scabbard over guide bar.

WARNING! Kickback can occur without warning. Always hold saw firmly with both hands. Never operate when fatigued or under influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble following steps.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on studs, loop chain over sprocket and bar, adjust tension with side screw.
  2. Fill Fuel: Use clean, fresh gasoline (min 89 octane) mixed with 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (Husqvarna HP recommended).
  3. Fill Chain Oil: Use quality bar & chain oil in separate tank.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, lockout, and chain brake function correctly.

CAUTION! Chain must be properly tensioned—snug against bar but pull freely by hand.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front handle with chain brake, Rear handle with throttle trigger, Throttle lockout, Combined choke/stop control, Primer bulb, Decompression valve, Chain tensioner, Fuel and oil caps.

Operation Controls: Throttle trigger (accelerates engine), Throttle lockout (must be pressed to access trigger), Chain brake lever (manual activation; inertia-activated), Stop switch (moves between RUN and STOP).

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, Spark plug, Cylinder cover, Chain catcher, Muffler, Oil pump adjustment screw.

Starting & Operation

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Activate chain brake by pushing forward.
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Set combined control to choke position.
  5. Press primer bulb 6-8 times until fuel visible.
  6. Pull starter handle until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  7. Move control to half-throttle position.
  8. Pull starter until engine starts.
  9. Blip throttle to disengage choke; allow warm-up.

Cutting Techniques: Use full throttle when cutting. Beware of kickback. Do not cut with tip of bar. Let chain do the work.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily/Before Use: Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check fuel and oil levels. Inspect for loose parts or damage.

Weekly/Every 10 Hours: Clean air filter. Check spark plug. Clean external surfaces. Inspect guide bar for wear and groove condition.

Monthly/Every 50 Hours: Replace spark plug. Clean fuel filter. Check oil pump output. Clean cooling fins. Inspect anti-vibration elements.

Annually/Every 100 Hours: Replace fuel filter. Clean carburetor (or as needed). Check all screws and bolts for tightness.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 7.1 mm / .404"). Maintain 30° filing angle. File all cutters to equal length. Check depth gauges with gauge tool.

Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust tensioning screw until chain is snug against bar but can be rotated by hand. Tighten bar nuts while lifting bar tip. Re-check tension after tightening.

WARNING! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Stop engine and engage chain brake before maintenance.

Storage Guidelines

Long-term Storage (over 30 days):

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove chain, clean, and store in oil.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Store in dry, cool place, protected from dust.
  5. Remove spark plug, add teaspoon of oil, pull starter slowly, reinstall plug.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel can degrade and damage engine components.
