Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Wear proper protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear chainsaw protective pants, gloves, helmet with face shield, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of obstacles; ensure secure footing; keep bystanders at least 15 meters away.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel only when engine is cool, outdoors, and away from ignition sources.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain secure grip; never cut with tip of bar; use reduced-kickback chain.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Always use proper technique and equipment.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble bar and chain before first use.

  1. Attach guide bar: Place bar on mounting studs, align chain tensioning pin.
  2. Install chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar; fit chain sprocket cover.
  3. Tension chain: Adjust with side-mounted tensioner until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Fill fluids: Mix fuel (50:1 Husqvarna XP oil to unleaded gasoline); fill chain oil tank with bar & chain oil.
  5. Check controls: Verify throttle trigger, throttle lockout, chain brake, and stop switch function properly.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is engaged during assembly. Always wear protective gloves when handling chain.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle trigger, throttle lockout, stop switch, choke/stop control, decompression valve.

Right Side: Chain brake lever, throttle trigger, throttle lockout, stop switch, choke control, air filter cover, side-mounted chain tensioner.

Left Side: Decompression valve, spark plug, fuel tank cap, oil tank cap, muffler with spark arrestor.

Safety Features: Chain brake (inertia-activated), throttle lockout (must be depressed to engage throttle), right-hand guard, vibration dampening system.

Starting & Operation

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Engage chain brake by pulling front hand guard toward front handle.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set choke control to full choke position.
  4. Press throttle lockout and pull starter cord 3-4 times until engine fires.
  5. Move choke to half-throttle position, pull starter until engine starts.
  6. Disengage choke completely, allow to idle for 30 seconds before releasing chain brake.

Warm Start: Do not use choke. Follow steps 1, 4, and 6 only.

Cutting Techniques: Use full throttle when cutting; never "ride" the chain brake; let saw do the work without forcing.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
DailyCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication; clean air filter; inspect bar for wear
WeeklyClean cooling fins; check spark plug; clean fuel filter; inspect anti-vibration elements
MonthlyClean carburetor air intake; check clutch and sprocket; clean spark arrestor screen
AnnuallyReplace fuel filter; check fuel lines; professional carburetor adjustment if needed

Note: Maintenance intervals depend on usage intensity. Professional use requires more frequent maintenance.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper chain maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 3/8" or .404"); maintain 30° cutting angle; file all cutters evenly.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely; adjust when chain is warm after use.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly; flip bar weekly for even wear; dress bar rails with flat file when needed.
  4. Lubrication: Always use proper bar & chain oil; adjust oil flow according to cutting conditions.

CAUTION! Always stop engine and engage chain brake before performing chain maintenance.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Fill fuel tank to prevent condensation; run engine dry of fuel in carburetor.
  2. Long-term (over 30 days): Drain all fuel from tank and carburetor; run engine until it stops. Remove chain, clean and oil it. Store in dry, cool place.
  3. Battery (if electric start): Disconnect battery; store fully charged in cool location.

WARNING! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel deteriorates and can damage engine components.
