Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear proper protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety helmet, hearing protection, protective glasses, gloves, chainsaw protective trousers, and boots with steel toe-cap and non-slip sole.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and animals at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing. Do not operate in poor weather or visibility.
  3. Chain Brake: Test function before each use. The inertia-activated chain brake must engage if kickback occurs.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only, with engine stopped and cool. Use clean, unleaded gasoline mixed with high-quality 2-stroke oil (50:1). Wipe off spills.

WARNING! Risk of severe injury or death from kickback, chain breakage, or loss of control. Never operate with one hand.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on a clean, stable surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar on drive sprocket. Fit chain over bar sprocket and onto drive sprocket, with cutting teeth facing forward on top of bar. Adjust chain tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use fresh fuel mix (50:1). Do not overfill. Secure cap tightly.
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent. Check oil flow before cutting.
  4. Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Re-tension when cold chain becomes loose.

CAUTION! Ensure all fasteners are tightened. Loose parts can cause serious injury.

Controls and Functions

Access controls on the saw body. Front Handle: Chain brake lever/hand guard, throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout. Rear Handle: Master control lever (combined choke/stop control), primer bulb (if equipped), rear hand guard.

Master Control Lever Positions: - STOP (0): Engine off. Ignition short-circuited. - CHOKE (⏫): For cold starting. Engages choke and sets fast idle. - RUN (⏬): Normal operating position.

Other Controls: Throttle trigger lockout must be pressed before throttle can be engaged. Chain brake lever/hand guard: Push forward to engage brake manually; inertia-activated during kickback.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start: 1. Place saw on flat ground. Engage chain brake. 2. Press decompression valve (if equipped). 3. Move master control lever to CHOKE (⏫). Press primer bulb 6 times (if equipped). 4. Hold front handle with left hand, place right foot in rear handle. Pull starter handle until engine fires. 5. Move master control lever to RUN (⏬). Pull starter handle again to start. 6. Let engine idle briefly. Disengage chain brake by pulling hand guard towards you.

Warm Start: Master control lever in RUN position. No choke or priming needed.

Stopping: Release throttle. Move master control lever to STOP (0).

Operating Instructions

Supports felling, limbing, and bucking.

  1. Basic Stance: Stand with feet apart, left foot slightly forward. Grip handles firmly with thumbs and fingers wrapped around.
  2. Starting a Cut: Apply full throttle before chain contacts wood. Let the chain do the work; do not force.
  3. Kickback Danger Zone: Avoid contact with upper quadrant of guide bar tip. Most kickbacks occur here.
  4. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut and felling cut. Use wedges if needed.
  5. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk. Cut branches from top down, using trunk as a barrier.
  6. Bucking: Support log properly. Be aware of tension and compression wood.

WARNING! Never cut above shoulder height. Be alert for falling branches.

Chain Sharpening

Use round file and file guide matching chain pitch (e.g., 5.5 mm for 3/8" chain).

  1. Secure bar. Mark starting cutter.
  2. Place file guide on chain. File at 30° angle, perpendicular to bar.
  3. File from inside out with light pressure. Give each cutter the same number of strokes.
  4. File depth gauges (rakers) with flat file and gauge. Maintain correct height (0.65 mm).

Tip: A sharp chain produces coarse chips, not fine dust. Sharpen frequently.

Storage

For storage longer than 30 days:

  1. Run tank dry or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Start engine and let run until it stops to clear carburetor.
  3. Remove spark plug. Add 1 teaspoon of engine oil through spark plug hole. Pull starter cord slowly to distribute oil. Reinstall plug.
  4. Clean entire saw. Remove chain and bar; clean and oil.
  5. Store in a dry, cool place, out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Fuel left in tank can deteriorate and damage fuel system components.
