Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective pants, safety boots, gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only, with engine stopped and cooled. Use clean, fresh fuel mix (50:1).
  4. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip.
  5. Chain Brake: Test function before each use. The brake should activate automatically upon kickback.

WARNING! A chainsaw is a dangerous tool if used improperly. Never operate when tired, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach the guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, fit bar over studs, ensure chain is correctly routed in bar groove.
  2. Fit the chain: Place chain over sprocket and onto bar, adjust tension via side screw.
  3. Fill fluids: Add Husqvarna 2-stroke oil to fuel at 50:1 ratio. Fill chain oil tank with special chain oil (ISO VG 30-40).
  4. Check chain tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Re-tighten after initial use.

CAUTION! Ensure the chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward on the top of the bar. Incorrect installation can cause severe kickback.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front handle with throttle trigger and lockout, rear handle, master control lever (choke/stop), primer bulb, chain brake lever, throttle lock, decompression valve (if equipped).

Master Control Lever Positions: - STOP (0): Engine off, ignition grounded. - CHOKE (Full left): For cold starting. - FAST IDLE/HALF THROTTLE (Middle): For warm starting. - RUN (Full right): Normal operation.

Chain Brake: Manually engage by pushing front hand guard forward. Automatically engages via inertia during kickback. Disengage by pulling guard back towards front handle.

Starting & Stopping the Engine

Cold Start: 1. Engage chain brake. Place saw on firm ground. 2. Press decompression valve (if equipped). 3. Set master control to CHOKE. Press primer bulb 4-6 times. 4. Pull starter handle until engine fires (approx. 1-3 pulls). 5. Move master control to FAST IDLE. Pull starter handle to start. 6. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.

Warm Start: Set master control to FAST IDLE and pull starter.

Stopping: Release throttle, let engine idle, move master control to STOP (0).

Tip: Always start the saw at least 3 meters from the refueling area.

Basic Cutting Techniques

Always use full throttle when cutting. Maintain secure grip with both hands.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path (45° behind fall). Make notch cut (1/3 diameter), then felling cut. Use wedges if needed.
  2. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk. Cut branches from bottom to top, using bar as a support.
  3. Bucking (Cross-cutting): Support log properly. Cut from top, avoid cutting into ground. For tensioned wood, use top cut first, then bottom cut.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly, do not cut with bar tip. Be aware of wood tension and binding.

WARNING! Never cut above shoulder height. Be extremely cautious of spring poles and bent trees.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily (Before use)Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls, nuts, bolts. Clean air filter. Check for loose parts.
WeeklyClean cooling fins. Check spark plug condition and gap. Clean fuel filter in tank.
MonthlyClean spark arrestor screen (muffler). Check clutch and sprocket for wear. Clean carburetor air intake.
Annually or Every 50 hrsReplace fuel filter. Check fuel lines. Clean cylinder and exhaust port (professional service recommended).

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Use correct round file size (typically 4.0 mm / 5/32"). Maintain 30° filing angle, 10° top plate angle.

  1. Secure bar. File from inside out with consistent strokes.
  2. File all cutters to same length. Check depth gauges with gauge tool; file down if exceeding 0.65 mm.
  3. For tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust tensioning screw until chain is snug but can be rotated by hand. Tighten bar nuts while lifting bar tip.

Tip: A sharp chain reduces effort, increases safety, and prolongs saw life. File at first sign of dullness.

Storage Guidelines

For storage longer than 30 days:

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove chain and bar, clean, and coat with oil.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Store in a dry, cool place, protected from dust.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in the tank for extended periods. Old fuel can damage engine components.
