Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before operation.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective trousers, safety boots, gloves, eye and hearing protection, and a helmet.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and animals at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only when engine is cold. Use fuel mix as specified.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone. Never cut with the tip of the bar. Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned.
  5. Carrying & Transport: Always fit the chain guard. Carry with engine stopped and guide bar pointing backwards.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. The chainsaw is a dangerous tool if used improperly.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Remove clutch cover. Fit the guide bar over the studs. Place the chain over the bar sprocket and onto the bar groove. Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar. Refit and tighten clutch cover.
  2. Chain Tensioning: Use side-mounted tensioner screw. Correct tension is when chain snaps back after being pulled away from bar. Retighten clutch cover nuts.
  3. Fuel & Oil: Fill fuel tank with 2-stroke mixture (50:1 Husqvarna XP oil or equivalent). Fill chain oil tank with quality bar & chain oil.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function correctly.

CAUTION! Always wear protective gloves when handling the chain. Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pulled back towards front handle) before starting.

Technical Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting.

Main Components: Front Handle, Rear Handle, Throttle Trigger, Throttle Lockout, Stop Switch, Choke Control, Chain Brake Lever, Decompression Valve (if equipped), Fuel Cap, Oil Cap, Air Filter Cover, Spark Plug, Muffler.

Control Functions:

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start:

  1. Place saw on firm ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Activate choke (pull control out fully).
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Press throttle lockout and pull throttle trigger once to set fast idle.
  5. Hold front handle firmly with left hand, place right foot in rear handle. Pull starter handle until engine fires.
  6. Deactivate choke (push control in one notch).
  7. Pull starter handle again until engine starts. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
  8. Disengage chain brake by pulling lever back towards you.

Warm Start: Do not use choke. Follow steps 1, 4, 5, 7, 8.

Stopping: Release throttle. Push the combined choke/stop control in fully to the stop position.

Basic Operation

Always use full throttle when cutting.

  1. Felling (Cutting down a tree): Plan escape path. Make notch cut on falling side. Make felling cut from opposite side, leaving hinge wood.
  2. Limbing (Removing branches): Stand on left side of trunk. Let the chain pull itself through. Beware of spring-loaded branches.
  3. Bucking (Cutting felled tree): Support log properly. Cut from top side whenever possible. For logs under tension, cut from compression side first.
  4. General Tips: Never cut above shoulder height. Do not overreach. Let the saw do the work; do not force it.

WARNING! Be extremely alert for kickback. Always hold saw firmly with both hands, thumbs wrapped around handles.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily / Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls, nuts, bolts. Clean air filter. Check for fuel/oil leaks.
Weekly / 10 HoursClean cooling fins on cylinder. Clean spark arrestor screen in muffler (if equipped). Clean exterior of saw.
Monthly / 50 HoursReplace spark plug. Clean fuel filter. Check fuel lines. Inspect anti-vibration elements.
Annually / 100 HoursCheck clutch and clutch drum for wear. Check starter mechanism. Have carburetor adjusted by authorized dealer if needed.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance other than chain tensioning and cleaning.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper care extends life and improves safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 4.0mm or 4.8mm). Maintain original filing angles (typically 30°). File all cutters to equal length. File depth gauges (rakers) with a flat file and gauge.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be tensioned when cold. Correct tension: chain should snap back against bar when pulled from groove. Re-tension after first few minutes of new chain use.
  3. Lubrication: Always use quality bar & chain oil. Check oil flow by pointing saw at a light surface and running at full throttle; a line of oil should appear.
  4. Bar Maintenance: Regularly clean bar groove. Flip bar over daily for even wear. Dress bar rails with a flat file if burred.

Storage

For storage longer than 30 days:

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove spark plug, add a teaspoon of engine oil through spark plug hole. Pull starter cord slowly to distribute oil, then refit plug.
  3. Clean entire saw thoroughly.
  4. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil. Store bar and chain in oiled paper.
  5. Store in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Never store saw with fuel in the tank for extended periods. Old fuel can damage engine components.
